Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Whynot, North Carolina, population 3,872. It has one stoplight, one bar, and the one and only Trixie Mancinkus.

Eleven years ago, Trixie graduated Harvard Law, turned down a job offer from one of the most prestigious law firms in Boston, and headed home to Whynot to open her own firm. Not only did she leave behind the big city, but she also left her boyfriend of three years. And just so we’re clear...that would be me.

So what am I doing in Whynot at this very moment? It seems Trixie needs help with a legal case, and for some insane reason, she called on me for assistance. I’ve been in town for five minutes, and I’m every bit as out of place as I feel. Trixie is all sweet, Southern curves to my tailored suits and high-priced haircuts. It’s a culture clash of North versus South, and about the only thing we have in common is our physical attraction to each other.

But I have a new motto since coming to Whynot: When life hands you lemons, all you need is a little sex and sweet tea to make things better.

Not at all for me..

I've clearly missed something as I don't understand all the raves and positive reviews. Trixie may be a brilliant caring attorney, but she is a horribly immature manipulative self centered ego maniac. She is a skilled liar as well. When she wonders "why they didn't work out" I thought really? She never once mentioned in college she was going home all while they were making plans to stay in Boston and then just cries and expexts him to change plans in a millisecond and 11 years later has the audacity to ask him for help. She then forces him to stay or should I say holds him hostage with her overly exaggerated southern family. I don't think there is a stereotype that was left out there. Seriously, maybe the narration exaggerated the rwang and drawl, but it was so over the top it was painful to hear. I liked Rye and Trixies mom, but the rest of the family... run. Run fast and run far.

Fun read overall!

Overall opinion: 3.75

After 11 years, both are still in love with each other. The court cases are almost an afterthought and he is able to spend lots of time with her, even though he is a partner with a high power law firm. Believability needs to be suspended but it is a fun read overall.

Wonderful narration for a wonderful story

Wow .... what can I say about Sawyer Bennett's alter ego Juliette Poe apart from what a fantastic fun short read , this novella hooked me from page one, the characters intrigued me and the story drew me in.
Samantha Summers, Alexander Cendese and Lance Greenfield did an amazing job bringing these quirky characters and their story to life. They were spot on with the emotion and the hun but more importantly they had me feeling like I was part of the group enjoying some moonshine sweet tea.
11 years ago Trixie graduated from Harvard, turned down a job at a top Boston Law Firm and hightailed it back to Whynot to open her own law practice leaving her boyfriend Ryland behind so why is he in Whynot now, well Trixie needs help with a case and to be honest he stills wonders why she left him the way she did.
This author has a way of making you connect on so many different levels with her characters and places , be it the moonshine drinking pistol welding Pa or the shotgun welding brothers, I'm sure this book will bring a smile to your face.

"When life hands you lemon, all you need is a little sex and sweet tea to make things better "

Looking forward to more sex and sweetness from Juliette Poe in future books and I hope they turn into full size novels.

Yawn

First of all, you absolutely CAN NOT name a book series Sex and sweet tea and have zero, zip, nada sex. It is false advertising. Add to that that the story is sooooo boring. There is nothing to hold your attention. So glad I got this on sale. Not worth a full credit. The narration was ok but even the best voice talent has to have something to work with. Even Sebastian Your wouldn't be able to save this one.

A fun and easy listen

3.5 Stars

This was a fun and easy read/listen that brings us a small dose of small town Southern life with all of it's charm and zaniness.

It is the story of two lawyers who had a relationship all three years during law school in Boston, but when it came time to actually make those hard decisions on the "after" of real life, they ended up parting ways. This was 11 years before the start of this book.

The setting takes place mostly in the small town of Why Not, South Carolina and is just...well....the word that comes to mind is "quaint".

It isn't deep and heavy literature, but it is a fun read/listen that will lave you with a smile on your face.
