Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Whynot, North Carolina, population 3,872. It has one stoplight, one bar, and the one and only Trixie Mancinkus.

Eleven years ago, Trixie graduated Harvard Law, turned down a job offer from one of the most prestigious law firms in Boston, and headed home to Whynot to open her own firm. Not only did she leave behind the big city, but she also left her boyfriend of three years. And just so we’re clear...that would be me.

So what am I doing in Whynot at this very moment? It seems Trixie needs help with a legal case, and for some insane reason, she called on me for assistance. I’ve been in town for five minutes, and I’m every bit as out of place as I feel. Trixie is all sweet, Southern curves to my tailored suits and high-priced haircuts. It’s a culture clash of North versus South, and about the only thing we have in common is our physical attraction to each other.

But I have a new motto since coming to Whynot: When life hands you lemons, all you need is a little sex and sweet tea to make things better.

Not at all for me..

I've clearly missed something as I don't understand all the raves and positive reviews. Trixie may be a brilliant caring attorney, but she is a horribly immature manipulative self centered ego maniac. She is a skilled liar as well. When she wonders "why they didn't work out" I thought really? She never once mentioned in college she was going home all while they were making plans to stay in Boston and then just cries and expexts him to change plans in a millisecond and 11 years later has the audacity to ask him for help. She then forces him to stay or should I say holds him hostage with her overly exaggerated southern family. I don't think there is a stereotype that was left out there. Seriously, maybe the narration exaggerated the rwang and drawl, but it was so over the top it was painful to hear. I liked Rye and Trixies mom, but the rest of the family... run. Run fast and run far.

short and sweet

Ain't He Precious? was such a sweet and cute second chance romance. The 2 main characters Trixie and Ryland (Ry) get the second chance that neither realised just how much they both wanted and needed. The timing for their HEA wasn't right the first time around, but it just might be the second.

Lots of banter and chemistry between these 2. Trixie's family are both fun and a little nutty at times. Spending time with them, Ry finally starts to understand why Trixie made the decisions she did.

This was a very quick listen, with 3 narrators. I enjoyed the performances of the narrators for both Trixie and Ry. Pa Mancinkus has a few chapters, and although I usually really enjoy the performances of the narrator that voiced this character, this time I felt that he just didn't suit the character of Pa (Trixie's 81 year old grandfather) at all. His voice didn't match to the character.

Great!

I love that I found this series! They are great books! The different narrators for different characters is wonderful. I wasn't sure what to expect with the overall title for the series "Sex and Sweet Tea", but it isn't dirty or graphic. Very nice love story!

Fun read overall!

Overall opinion: 3.75

After 11 years, both are still in love with each other. The court cases are almost an afterthought and he is able to spend lots of time with her, even though he is a partner with a high power law firm. Believability needs to be suspended but it is a fun read overall.

The Crazy's as Thick as Buttermilk

Just gotta' love the special kind of crazy that's only found in small southern towns. Sure, some of that crazy may actually come from what we refer to as "transplanted Yankees," that's because they're not immune to the southern insanity that sweeps in especially when the weather reaches sweltering levels and the pavement starts to melt a little. While it could be said that any town could harbor its fair share of the mentally unstable, it seems the small southern towns embrace, celebrate, and revel in those that are a bubble off plumb. So, welcome to Whynot, North Carolina.

Our heroine is an amazing firecracker of a woman. Naturally beautiful, loyal to her family and town, full of heart, and extremely smart... as in top one percent of her Harvard Law School class smart. She could have gone any where. But she came home to practice law, leaving the love of her life in Boston. Eleven years later, he's a partner in his prestigious firm, and she needs his help for a case in NC.

These characters are so easy to fall in love (or at least like) with. They're very fun, unpredictable, sassy, and well, just kind of nuts at times. But everything they do is done with their whole hearts. You've gotta' love that. They work hard, play hard, fight hard, love hard, but always stand up for each other. Pretty awesome, really.

It was ok

This was a second chance romance between Trixie and Ryland, they dated in college but after graduation Trixie decided she wanted the small town lawyer life rather than the big city lawyer life. They have unresolved feelings for each other that didn't take long to come out. It's a cute story but I wanted a little more.

Very sweet.

Not only is the story sweet as real southern sweet tea, but you also cannot put it down until it's gone.
