A Head as hard as stone

I enjoyed listening to this second book in the Madman MacKeefe series. The narrator was good. Aidan is the guard of the Stone of Destiny and to keep it safe, he uses it as a pillow. While sleeping he dreams of a Scottish angel, and knows she is his destiny. Of course, he meets Effie, and knows she is the bonny lass that he must protect. Book full of mystery and romance. Good story.

Captivating, funny and romantic. Loved it.

What made the experience of listening to Aidan the most enjoyable?

Tim Campbell narrates this story brilliantly. Multiple character voices with all range of emotion. Outstanding.

Any additional comments?

Aidan MacKeefe is guarding the true Stone of Destiny, keeping the stone's hiding place a secret, safe from the hands of the English.
Aidan is a bit more playful in nature than his two closest friends, Onyx and Ian, and has a reputation of not being able to keep a secret. Growing up hearing stories of the Stone of Destiny his entire life, Aidan digs a whole in the ground, places the stone there and lays his bed on top of the stone, hoping he too will have prophetic dreams as told in the old stories. One night Aidan dreams of an angel, so clearly, so vividly, he knows in his heart she is real. Aidan just has to find her.
Assisting Aidan in his quest in life is his faithful, loving companion, his squirrel. The author does an excellent job creating characters with animals. The adventures this squirrel takes you on will make you laugh out loud.

Effie MacDuff must help the English find the Stone of Destiny. Her young sister's life depends on it, as her sister is being held captive by the English. What Effie doesn't know is she is Aidan's dream angel. The more they are with one another, the more they fall for each other. How can Effie betray Aidan? No one has ever been so kind to her, so sweet and good to her. What will Aidan do if Effie helps the English get the stone? Although this book is the second in the series, it stands on its own and is a real delight. I laughed during multiple scenes and sat on the edge of my seat as I read more intensely powerful moments. This is one of my favorites. A must read, or listen to on audiobook.
Highly entertaining, incredibly humorous, very sweet and romantic.

An amazing story from Elizabeth Rose!

This is a story about Aidan MacKeefe and Effie McDuff. Effie McDuff's sister is held captive by the English and to rescue her they make Effie go find and steal the Stone of Destiny and right now it is with Aidan MacKeefe's clan and Aidan is in charge of keeping it safe. Effie feels bad by stealing the stone because she is falling in love with Aidan MacKeefe but she has to save her sister. Those two people are strong but what they go through just makes them stronger. I love the MacKeefe's unique animals that they keep. I thought the story was well written with likable characters. There is many twists, turns, adventure, fun and love in this book. I felt that Tim Campbell who narrated the book did a very good job. I highly recommend this book and all books by Elizabeth Rose.

I won this audiobook from Elizabeth Rose and I thank her very much for an enjoyable afternoon.

Madman Aidan lives for adventure

Aidan and Effie’s road to romance was definitely not smooth but in true Elizabeth Rose style it was mixed with adventure, danger and humour. Much of the humour comes in the form of the unusual pets kept by the 3 Madmen MacKeefe. Simply an enjoyable addition to this series. Recommended.

Super Great Tale!

Aidan used the Stone of Destiny as a pillow. He was asleep on the stone dreaming that his door opened and an angel came into the room wearing a long white hooded cloak. She had red ringlets and green eyes. In behind her came a whole army of English solders to steal Scotland's stone. When she turned around there was a red tail sticking out of the back. When he woke, he saw his pet squirrel running across his chest and screeching. He had bit his poor squirrel's tail. His friends Onyx and Ian made fun of him.

Effie and her sister were captured and put in cages by the English. Her grandmother was Scottish and had given her a secret to hold close.

The first thread on a tapestry was Onyx. The second new tapestry went on the loom with Aidan's story. It was woven by the talent of Author Elizabeth Rose. The Narriator hung it on the wall. It shows a scene of laughs, love and courage from the first thread until the last knot is tied. You will laugh at all the fun the MadMen get into.
