An injured football star. A shy friend from his past. Do they stand a chance when a surprise rival comes to town?
Chip Inman’s life trajectory was always meant to lead him straight to the NFL. But a nasty head injury during his last college home game threw him into uncertain territory where memories were hard to come by.
Greta Griffin, a shy dog groomer with aspirations to train service dogs, was instrumental, years ago, in helping Chip Inman graduate high school. She’d had feelings for the star quarterback for as long as she could remember, but didn’t run in his circles.
When Chip’s father hires Greta and her therapy dog to help Chip regain his memory, her feelings for him intensify. But when a woman claiming to be his girlfriend appears, Greta is reminded just how out of place she would be in Chip’s fast-paced football world.
Can Greta help Chip regain his lost memory in time for the NFL draft? And if she does, will Chip choose the life others have planned for him or the one he wants with Greta?
You’ll love After the Blitz if you’re a fan of sweet and clean listens, sports romances, and amnesia stories with a happily ever after.
After the Blitz is the first book in a new series by Savannah Adams, author of the Love Stories from Magnolia Grove series. Each book in this clean sports series is a complete story with overlapping characters and can be listened to in any order. A swoon-worthy ending guaranteed!
Savannah Adams is a small-town girl who loves chasing happily ever afters. She is a sweet romance author who was born and raised in the South. Look for her other books, including the Love Stories from Magnolia Grove series, on her Savannah Adams Audible author page.

Chip Inman is the senior star quarterback of his college team… headed for the pros to follow in his dad’s footsteps. Then a hard collision with another player during his last home game and Chip’s whole world turns upside down! Is football really what he wants? Who is Roxanne and why does she continually call him “Baby”? His grandfather’s farm calls to his spirit and so does Greta… a helpful friend from high school with a dog who loves Chip. TERRIFIC HEA!!! I would love for Jay Dyess to record all of these stories.

I got this as a free code but I totally enjoyed this book and that’s an honest opinion. I would be willing to read/listen to more from this author.
With his memories gone, Chip is flying blind when it comes to the women in his life.

That said, I was not sure how I was going to enjoy dual first person pov with a single narrator. I wasted my time worrying about that. Jay is one of those rare people who have the talent and ability to do much harder things than dual narration. He handled the female pov beautifully, making it sound natural, cute and completely different – like there were actually two narrators – than the male.
And Jay as a football player? In romance? I’m really not into football players, but Jay made him sound sexy, yet sweet and endearing, tender and romantic, and there was no way I could keep from falling in love with Chip.
The story itself had good writing and plot, but reading it would not have kept me enthralled the way Jay’s perceptive interpretation did.
This story was given life and masterfully done by a voice actor who, I think, can perform anything.
Tender, romantic performance

Jay Dyess makes listening so much fun with his range of voices. He not only picks just the right voice for male characters, but he doesn’t over-voice the female characters like other male narrators tend to do. I appreciate that.
I can’t wait to listen to more of this series about football playing brothers who all just happen to be country-boy “Adonis”-es.
I really enjoyed how sweet, clean, family oriented, and romantic the story was!
