Publisher's Summary

The third volume of the extraordinary Southern Reach trilogy. The Southern Reach trilogy draws to a close and it is winter in Area X.

One last, desperate team embarks across the border, determined to reach a remote island that may hold the answers they've been seeking. As they press deeper into the unknown, the threat to the outside world becomes only more daunting. The mysteries of Area X may have been solved, but their consequences and implications are no less profound – or terrifying.

Rubbish

1st book presented interesting idea and explored it to a small degree maybe 80% of all we know about area x come from this book. I liked the first book it offered so much and despite it only being part of a story (which I find frustrating) I rates it high

2nd book gave us maybe 15% more of the story not a great book very little detail about the area almost no story progression. But still it kept me hooked with the promise of "things to come"

The 3rd book is so bad it's crap don't even waste your time reading the rest of my review.

This book just a collection or people's thoughts and ideas vaguely related to the area no details no story progression .... Just words sentences, people's thoughts and ideas (mostly unrelated to the story)... No science no aliens no supernatural just a load or random junk.. I had a suspicion of how this book would turn out after the step down from the 1st to 2nd books..

Don't buy, don't bother I can only assume the author paid their friends to leave good feed back..

I just finished some Peter hammilton books they are long and sort of off story half the time but they are 100x better than this..

I've been listening for hours to this book and I don't think anything has happened.. I really want to know if anything happens at then end that's the only reason I've not given up.

I have 700iah books in my library and I have returned maybe 10%.. I rarely return a book I read to the end as obviously it was not that bad..

I gave it another 3 hours wondering how I could delete the review I posted before the end (so as not to trash a good book) .. Nope it gets worse it's crap send it back...

Disappointing despite great potential

You read waiting for something to happen but it never really does AND poor narration.

What’s with the weird audio?

I enjoyed the story and the narrators are great. However, it’s like some parts were re-recorded and added back, even mid sentence?

Please re-record!

The reading would periodically slip from one reader’s voice to another, almost as though the original was recorded over - and I don’t mean from one chapter to the next, I mean within sentences. Think there might be a glitch there.
Also, the voiceover for The Biologist’s diary needed to take a breath between full stops!
Overall, I wasn’t satisfied with the entire thing.

Good trilogy but not enough resolution or answers

Enjoyed the overall trilogy but too many unanswered questions for me. as much as I love having something left to reflect on and work out I felt there was too much that was left unresolved here.

Depressing

What a depressing end to a depressing set of books. First book starts out OK, second starts getting more slow to read, last book Depressing.

The most boring book ever?

Avoid at any cost and save your time. This is so boring I had to physically force myself to listen to it just to finish it. No story or proper development, poor characters.
