Powerful material

These are great techniques and follow the principles of learning very well. I appreciate how Brian separates the principles from the techniques.

Practical Ideas

Get out our pen and pad for this one. You can listen in the car while driving and even at night while you're going to sleep. However, you're going to miss out.

Brian Tracy has gifted some wonderful and practical ideas that I have already incorporated and begun to draw benefits. No doubt, you will do the same. Get out your pen and pad though. You're going to need it.

disappointed B. Tracy fan

What did you like best about Accelerated Learning Techniques? What did you like least?

What I liked most and least is completely shaded by the fact that I've looked into "Accelerated Learning" before and KNOW that this material is in no way unique and is in fact quite elementary. It takes a LONG time to get through the audio because of they way they arranged the material. It was a great disapointment.

Has Accelerated Learning Techniques turned you off from other books in this genre?

a little, yes.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

It isn't a narrative. The readers voices tend to be boring though.

Any additional comments?

I still enjoy most of Brian Tracy's work and recommend him often.
Just not this one.

A clear map for learning

If you're drifting along in your career or you think you're done with education then you need to listen to this audio book. Some of it is a bit of a pep talk with the positive thinking being a little trite these days, but it is worth sticking with it to get some insight as to how you can go about mastering knowledge to become an expert.

It is vintage Brian Tracy with the 'you've got the power to become the best in your field' which is possible with this and I think some level of higher than average talent. But I feel the listener can gain something of a good game plan to approach learning more and 'raising their game'. Even if you're average at something you can rise above this level and fulfil your potential. Well this what I intend to do with the ideas from this book.

Some of these ideas are far from original, but the are packaged in a good way that there is something most people can take from it. Though the last half hour is back to back classical music (presumably to play with studying) and is not really explained what it is meant to do - just lobbed in there for good measure with Colin Rose's voiceover / hypnosis style affirmations. You have to be open to learning for this to work for you... It's no silver bullet for being an expert . It's a good starter for lifelong learners to focus their efforts.

Not worth it.

Far to much waffle and very little in the way of actual learning technics. I'm glad I didn't pay for it. Steer clear!!

Pretty old stuff

From the references one can see that this whole book is based on knowledge that is a few decades old. References to "audio cassettes" reinforce the impression the author didn't update this book. But it does provide a good overview of learning techniques (known at the time)

A must read for professionals and students

The most valuable take away I got from this book was how to power read and how it differs from speed reading. It's a very practical book that is definitely worth investing you time in. I learn how to study for effeciently and actively and how to retain information better. I can't not recommend this book enough. Very easy to finish, well read by the author.

Learning is one of thre Greatsest Keys to Success

Its not about how many books you read, however about how much you implement and learn from each book. This program gives you all the tools to get the most out of a subject in a limited time frame. Uncover your learning strengths and take everything to the next level.

Self help bs more than how to learn.

I bought the book to learn how to learn effectively instead it starts off with the self help mantra of "you are unhappy with where you are, by doing this stuff you can be happy". I'm not unhappy where I am, nor am I reading this book fill some void, I just want to learn how to learn more effectively. When i learn this skill I will be no more happy or un-happy than I am now and I don't expect a book on how to learn to do that for me. After listening for over an hour I haven't received any strategies of learning. there's just so much filler in this that its not worth my time.
