Publisher's summary

No one was prepared for the darkness.

After the sudden passing of her mother, Melaney Carter needed to travel hundreds of miles from her home to deal with her newly inherited property. The house needed major TLC after years of her mother's unfortunate hoarding, which led to years of neglect. Still, it was a trip she desperately needed to get away from her obsessed ex-boyfriend, and from her upcoming exams, she wasn't even a little ready to take.

When a solar storm wipes out the power grid, Mel is thrust into a disaster she wasn't at all prepared for, nor something she would have ever expected. Chaos erupts around her in a way no one could have seen coming.

Now with nothing but a suitcase and her mother's collection of junk, she must find a way to survive in an unfamiliar town without a friendly face in sight.

Sudden Darkness is a thrilling apocalyptic novel about ordinary people who are faced with the end of the world and the collapse of society as we know it. This book is perfect for listeners of EMP, CME, post-apocalyptic, and natural disaster fiction.

*Mild language and violence.

I can’t tolerate weak main characters

The main character and her frequent bouts of anxiety, tunnel vision and blackouts just annoy me and that’s why I won’t continue this series. If you enjoy those cringe worthy moments then this book is for you.

Stacey Glemboski’s narration shined as always :)

Good story. Great narrator.

I enjoyed this story but the main characters seem kind of immature. I'm hoping they grow as they shift into survival mode.
The story line is fresh and unique, I love that, so many in this genre are based on life long preppers and start sounding alike. Stacey Glemboski is awesome, honestly she is the reason I tried this book. Glad I did and I look forward to the next

Not worth the time. Immature childish unlikeable characters

I kept expecting this book to get better. It didn’t. The women characters are self centered, whining brats. The kind of self righteous, arrogant, spoiled girls I avoid in real life; I kept hoping a zombie would pop out and eat them. They have no life skills or survival instincts but still order people around and constantly make demands. They are very unpleasant characters. The male characters are likeable, but one-dimensional and not well developed. The plot is shallow and predictable.
