Darkness and evil

I realize that Abraham live during a time of Idol worshiping. But, in this novel there is a lot of barbaric, lewd, lasciviousness, and horrific things
that happened. These graphic descriptions were hard for me to listen to, so I skipped several chapters.

too much graphic sexual content

Especially for a Christian writer. it goes way beyond necessary to convey the point of moral depravity, too the point that I became embarrassed to listen to it out loud if anyone else was around.

Love the story

If I wouldn’t be Christian and listening to these series, I would start questioning who is YHWH, who is God that stronger then other gods. Even tho it’s not a bible but listening to these stories makes you want to search out and get to know YHWH more.

What three words best describe Brian Godawa’s performance?

Good but not as good as the first 3 books

This book is an excellent story. But unlike the first 3 books this one has excessive discussion of sex and rape. Sure those things happen, but sheesh. Hopefully the next one goes back to the cleaner read the first couple books were.

Very good story

I really enjoyed this book. The only thing I could do with out is the depravity. But I see what the author is trying to show, and he does it well enough with out being to vulgar.
I would by all means recommend all four books to anyone and I can't wait to start on book five.

Very disappointed

I liked the book somewhat. The story had to continue on to get to the next step. I was however very put off by the vulgar description of the sex scenes in the immoral cities. It seriously made me discussed and I felt I'll. For example he did not have to say....." was removing his fist from.... so and so's anus" I almost vomited. Some things where too much information. I will have to pray GOD erases those pictures from my mind. Gross.
I will continue on in the series but, if the next one is this vile I will listen to no more.

Abraham

Would you listen to Abraham Allegiant again? Why?

Yes. Excellently written and narrated. Gave me a whole new perspective on the entire story.

What did you like best about this story?

Though I know this is a work of some fiction, there is much truth threaded throughout the entire Chronicles series. This, along with the other books in the series, shows that Yahweh-Elohim Himself is in FULL control of all. And, evil surely has an end no matter how wicked it thrives to be.

Have you listened to any of Brian Godawa’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I just wished I'd listened from start of the series to finish. I began with Jesus Triumphant, which is EXCELLENT by the way. Then I listened to Noah, David, then Joshua & Caleb, Gilgamesh, then Abraham. I wished I'd listened in its order.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. Sarah and Hagar actually talked and the strife I felt between them for so many years while reading about Hagar in scripture gave me a better heart over that difficult situation.

Any additional comments?

Excellent. Brian Godawa has done it yet again! Wow, what a great imagination.

effortless blending of Scripture and history

love to hear stories. especially when they come from the Hebrew T'nach and blended with culture, myth and history but I just hear a compelling story with these details used as light and shade in a painting.
