Publisher's summary

I found success with an empathic, heart-centered, and strengths based approach. Though combining different approaches that range from challenging stigma, bolstering self-efficacy, to somatic body-centered work, I was able to carve out the ability overcome basic characteristics that are associated with ADHD. I was able to increase my focus on what’s important, manage my incredible kinetic hyperactivity, and re-direct impulses naturally, without feeling bad about myself. I learned the most important thing is to practice loving-kindness–first toward myself, then toward others. Of course, a heart-centered approach does not just help with ADHD, it helps many other conditions as well.

But for those of us with ADHD, who have suffered with toxic shame–being criticized, berated, and demoralized–because our strength set does not conform with the standards of the world around us, this book is for us! It’s also for your parents, care-givers, teachers, administrators, and friends. So, come along on a journey that can potentially turn your functional impairments in to Superpowers!

Highly recommend this book!

"ADHD, a Heartful Approach" is an insightful and compassionate guide for those who have ADHD or in my case, love someone with ADHD (My husband of 23 years) The author approaches ADHD with a unique perspective that focuses on the emotional aspects of living with ADHD, rather than simply the symptoms.

My audible collection has over 1000 audiobooks, and in my opinion, the narrator can make or break a book. Nick Sarando's narration of the audiobook is excellent, and he effectively captures the author's empathetic tone and message. His delivery is clear, engaging, and easy to listen to.

I appreciate the use of sound effects and music in this audiobook that definitely helped to create a more immersive listening experience. FUN FACT, I always listen to an entire book, including the end credits, I can report the music I enjoyed throughout is "voices in my head" by the author, Shane Bruce.

Overall, "ADHD, a Heartful Approach" is a highly recommended resource for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of ADHD and learn how to support individuals with ADHD in a more compassionate and effective way.

Groundbreaking ADHD Book

As someone who has struggled with ADHD for years, this book offered various strategies and coping mechanisms that were very help..

As I was listening to the book, I felt that the author was talking about me, and some of the challenges I’ve had..It’s an INCREDIBLE tool, that I will read over and over again.. It’s a POWERFUL book, and I’m glad it’s another resource I have..Everyone impacted by ADHD, whether personally or in caring for a loved one, should get, and read it.

The narration by Nick Sarando was excellent, and grabbed my attention with his grasp of the subject. His contribution to the project was important, because he obviously “gets it.” Great book, and top-notch narration..Loved it..

A Heartful Approach

My husband lives with ADHD, so I was excited to listen to this book to get a deeper understanding of his everyday struggles. This is such a positive book that gave great tools to help people who are living with ADHD thrive. If the people that listen to this book actually make the choice incorporate the tools given, into their everyday lives, I believe they can see amazing changes starting to happen. This book allows people living with ADHD to have hope, and encourages taking action to work through barriers.

The narrator, Nick Sarando, was able to entrance me with his soothing voice, but also I was engulfed in the pronunciation and articulation that was used throughout the book. He sounded caring, and really understood the subject, and how to reach the listeners. This made me want to look into other books he may have narrated!

Overall, this is an well written, and well narrated book, that I would recommend to anyone who is living with ADHD, or even knows a person living with ADHD.

A Heartfelt Account of Living with ADHD

I really enjoyed the non-clinical approach to this book. I have lived for years trying to keep my ADHD under wraps. There is so much shame & stigma surrounding ADHD. Shane Bruce’s book offers an empathetic view into the barriers we face on a daily basis. Finally a book I can share with my husband that will allow him to fully understand my daily struggles. I can now embrace the features of ADHD that make me unique.

The narration by Nick Sarando was superb. Anyone with ADHD knows - keeping our attention can be very difficult. Nick’s reading kept me engaged allowing me to really absorb the information!! Thank you so much.

Understanding my Life

First, having ADHD, I kept getting distracted- so it took a while to finish the book. Having done so I realized that A) I wasn’t alone, and B) living with tue stigma it was time to stop living with it and reject it. The book was very well written, and very insightful.
