Different people with different personalities express love in different ways. In fact, there are five very specific languages of love: Words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, quality time, and physical touch. Dr. Gary Chapman’s original best seller was first crafted with married couples in mind, but the love languages have proven themselves to be universal. The message of this audiobook is now tailored to meet the unique and real desires of single adults.

Heralded by the New York Times and Time as the couples therapy with the highest rate of success, Emotionally Focused Therapy works because it views the love relationship as an attachment bond. This idea, once controversial, is now supported by science, and has become widely popular among therapists around the world. In Hold Me Tight, Dr. Sue Johnson presents Emotionally Focused Therapy to the general public for the first time. Johnson teaches that the way to save and enrich a relationship is to reestablish safe emotional connection and preserve the attachment bond.

You can experience worrying thoughts such as, “Does this person really like me?” “How serious is this relationship?” “Will it work out?” Usually, if you love someone deeply, and he/she breaks your heart, chances are, you will avoid being vulnerable. On a certain level, we all fear being hurt, consciously or unconsciously. Ironically, this fear tends to increase when we are getting what we want.

Good but not what I had in mind
If you could sum up ADD in Intimate Relationships in three words, what would they be?
Educational, Helpful, and Exhaustive
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would have cut out the medical jargon and the explanations on the brain and various medications
What does Stefan Rudnicki bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Because of the medical terms used in this book, if I had to read those terms myself the flow of reading would have easily been disrupted and would have probably cause me not finish the book
What did you learn from ADD in Intimate Relationships that you would use in your daily life?
There are a list of things that are given at the end of the book that I would go back and write out and print and made available to me everyday.
Any additional comments?
This book is very good on presenting cases of relationships and educating people on what ADD is. Personally I think this book is best suited for people if 1) you have not read Dr. Amen's book "Healing ADD" 2) you somehow suspect or think that you or your partner has ADD 3) you are diagnosed with ADD and you want more information on the topic.
Most of the book (2/3s of it) was filled with information I already heard in Dr. Amen's book "Healing ADD" and I almost gave up on the book since my hope in reading the book was to get information more along the lines of treatment or suggestions in changes I could make to improve my relationship with my wife given that I have ADD. The book does have this information at the end of the book and I found that to be helpful. Also what the book does very well is describe behaviors or relationships when one or both (or more) persons in the relationship have ADD.
At the end of the day unless you fall under the 3 categories I mentioned above I wouldn't recommend this book to you. And in the case of the third category, if you are just interested in getting more information about ADD I would suggest Dr. Amen's book "Healing ADD" instead.

Great Book
Discovered this book on Audible two days ago. It's amazing. I have learned so much about myself and my behavior in relationships. It''s not boring to listen to either
I'm so happy I found this! So many diverse stories and insight. Especially after chapter 2. Also, you'll learn about relationships with your PARENTS and your CHILDREN.
I'm listening to it with my husband and he is like "Wow, I get it now". He is so relieved now that he better understands the HOW, WHY, and viable SOLUTIONS. Radical change in my own understanding and I feel less guilt about my past and many of the dumb choices I've made.

Super helpful in better understanding my partner!
My boyfriend was diagnosed with ADD as a child and stopped taking medicine before I even knew him. I didn't know much about ADD before reading this book. This book was incredibly helpful in knowing that I am not the cause for his distraction. This book put an end to my whole 'I'm not good enough' internal dialogue and reaffirmed not only his love for me, but also how I can support him moving forward.

Really Useful
Good use of stories to illustrate how different types of ADD manifest in life settings. I didn't realise how many forms there were and I have developed a much better understanding of some of my friends and patients. I was not taught about ADHD/ADD at university as it wasn't something commonly diagnosed at the time. Now, I'm reconsidering some patients diagnosis who have not responded to their current diagnosis treatment. Food for thought

Good for examples of ADD behaviour
Good for examples of ADD behaviour, not very good for methods of dealing with that behaviour. Needs a more in depth section on those methods, not a rushed list like part at the end of the book.
