Publisher's summary

Death is the last lover you will ever know.

SOA Special Agent Patrick Collins has lived a life full of lies, and it has finally caught up with him. There’s no denying his past any longer, not after giving up the truth to save himself from a murder charge. But truth alone can’t set Patrick free, and time is running out to stop the Dominion Sect from turning his father into a god.

Jonothon de Vere knows survival isn’t a guarantee, but he’s desperate to keep Patrick safe, even as hope slips through his fingers. With the future unknown, Jono will follow Patrick wherever he goes, even to Salem, where a family reunion reveals a bitter secret that was never going to stay buried.

With New York City under control of their god pack, Patrick and Jono must fall back on every alliance they’ve brokered to fill the front lines of a war coming directly to the city streets. The veil is always thinnest on Samhain, and what awaits them on the other side is the stuff of nightmares. For when it tears, all hell will break loose, and the gods will be summoned to face a reckoning the world isn’t ready for.

The stakes have never been higher, failure has never been so deadly, and the Fates have never been kind to heroes. Patrick knows that better than anyone - because everything has a price, every debt always comes due, and it’s finally time for Patrick to pay his.

Wish I could listen to for a first time again.

I was not ready to stop spending time with these characters and hearing their stories. I loved how she blended the myths of so many cultures.

Amazing conclusion

I love this series so much! I adore the characters and the world. I’m beyond sad to see the end of a series I love but it was such an amazing ending. There was action, heart breaking moments, g-ds to deal with, and of course Jono and Patrick. I love the interactions between Jono and Patrick so much. I couldn’t stop listening I needed to know how things would end for all the characters I loved and the ending made me really happy. I love this author so much and the narrator does an amazing job as always. Definitely going to be a series I relisten to!

Great story. Great narration.

Since this is the last book of the series, this is a bit of a review for the whole series.

The narration was amazing. I liked reading the first book of the series, but the narration added an extra bit of flavor to the story. I now search for books narrated by Gary Furlong.

Hailey Turner did an amazing job of keeping track of and managing a large cast of characters and a complex story. Epic fantasy series are often derailed by too many superfluous details and out of character moments. Turner did not fall into that trap. This series was well thought out.

I enjoyed getting to know Jono, Patrick, Sage, and everyone else. The characters care so well built that they feel like friends and neighbors. I would have liked a few more personal insights into their thought process, but that might have derailed the flow of the story considering how large the cast was.

Overall, the rhythm of the storytelling was good which allowed for an excellent narration. The use of never in awkward places bothered me sometimes. This might be a quirk in regional dialects, but I kept envisioning a fight scene where Jono never let go of Patrick.

Emotions were evoked in this series and especially this book. I did shed a few tears in this story. Patrick's self-sacrificing nature was challenging to deal with emotionally. Also, anyone who has been responsible for the care or protection of a sibling will understand why Patrick had such a difficult time with his mission to pay his soul debt.

I will definitely listen to this entire series again. The end was satisfying. In the tradition of myths, Greek and otherwise, Patrick's story was told, but that doesn't mean the story won't evolve with time....

I tend to hold epic fantasy stories to high standards. This series showed me that Hailey Turner has a talent for constructing an engaging, epic story in a timely fashion. I look forward to the next series.

Doing things his way

This final book in the Soulbound series was epic, almost too much so at times. I had to listen to this in pieces just to digest what was going on. I don't necessarily consider this a bad thing, more an example of how involved and intense I found the book. Love and loss, beginnings and endings, new and old and everything in between, the story truly had a little of it all. I enjoyed following Patrick, his pack, and their core group of friends on their saga to triumph over Ethan and his allies. It didn't all shake out like I thought it would, yet I'm still satisfied with how it ended for our snarky mage and his Brit. Gary Furlong did a great job finishing off the Soulbound series. His voice is good for this type of story and while the character voices varied some among the different books, overall he was remarkably consistent with them. I’ll be listening to this again once I’ve recovered from the overload.

The best book series ever!

This entire series was wonderful. The storyline was believable and well-detailed. The characters and their development had me feeling for them and thinking of them as friends, even Lucien. The performance by Gary Furlong was outstanding. He truly brought the words from the page to life. I knew the various characters from his various portrayals and voices. The story had me graving more; I could not stop listening. The ending was beautiful and well deserved for Patrick and Joho. My favorite character was Wayde. His comical innocence was needed in such an intense story. It would be great to have a storyline with his growth and development. This book series could rival the Harry Potter series. It would be great if a movie and/or TV group would pick up this incredible story and bring it to live action. Finally, it was beautiful how the queer storyline was simply a fact of life and not the story itself. Thank you for this wonderful experience. I was sorry (but happy for the characters) that the series came to an end.

My god

This was an absolute DELIGHT to listen to and enjoy, from the first time Patrick stepped on to the stage, to the end. I loved watching him grow, him fall in love, and to find the family he so desperately needed.
This right here? Perfection. Absolute. PERFECTION.

that is how u end a series

Well, Hailey proves you can end a Paranormal series on a high note! This is my main problem with the most longer Pnr series they are amazing until the end, which is just lackluster. All the previous events of past books all come to head to this epic conclusion, old friends and enemies alike are reunited in an epic battle. Patrick and Jono finally get their hea. It is not easily won, but wow, what a ride it is. I can not recommend this series enough.

Gary Furlong, as usual, does a fantastic job! can not even begin to say how amazing he does on this series.

A bit disappointed

I don't know what to think and how to rate it. I'm conflicted.
I really enjoyed it and had a good time. BUT in the end, I think it's an okay book. I guess I expected more or something different.
Gary Furlong also did an amazing job as always!

Excellent Finale

I was worried I might not enjoy this as a finale but I am relieved to be wrong. The story keeps it's pacing ensuring that the finley woven plots of the previous stories come together.

Outstanding book, outstanding performance

I haven’t been this surprised by a series like this in quite a while. Every single book is outstanding.
Amazing backstory, exquisitely written characters, complex and ever growing personalities and relationships.

Also, BEST NARRATION EVER! Gary Furlong is an audiobook wizard. And not just for the voices, but especially for the emotions. The performance made me curious, enthralled, crying like a sap, gutted and so, so happy.

Amazing finale to an amazing series

This is an action packed finale, seventh book, to this wonderful series. It does start off a bit slow, and I started and stopped several times. However, I kept at it, and I am so glad I did!

Gods and demons, zombies and hunters, all conspire to take away everything from our heroes. However, the pledged help and alliances that have been forged are kept, and some unexpected help even shows up along the way.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster for me, a long time devotee to the series. But, in the end, everything is as it should be, and Patrick and Jono (and their God pack) finally get the peace and happiness they have sacrificed so much for. It's a fantastic happily ever after, and I can't wait until I have time to relistent to the series again soon.

The one thing that brought down my rating was the narration by Gary Furlong, and it kills me to say that. He has done a fantastic job with the rest of the series, but something is off with this book. The characters voices are different throughout most of the book, which took me out of the story for a time. Don't get me wrong, the narration is still amazing; it just doesn't seem to match up with the other books. If this had been a standalone, it would be a 5 ⭐ narrative all the way. But the difference between this book and the others was disappointing for me.

Final Chapter in an epic saga

I have followed along this series with awe, wonder, a touch of frustration, and true enjoyment. Just to get the frustration out of the way – I’m not up on mythology, gods, supernatural beings, or anything else like that. I have learned a ton from these books, but it kind of gets confusing. Unless it's Hermes. I can never forget Hermes.

These books are epics. They take the overarching good versus evil, and break it down granularly into Patrick and Jono versus all the ill that exists in the world. That’s quite a task. And the couple have made friends along the way, so they’re not alone. They’ve also made a few enemies as well, and many of those join in the pitch battle for the souls of the good. Along the way, Patrick loses someone dear to him and that nearly broke me. I understood why this character had to die, but it still hurt.

In the end, though, Patrick has to fight Ethan for dominion and that means dealing with his twin sister. Patrick went for twenty years thinking Hannah was dead. Once he discovers the horrors she’s endured during that time, his guilt intensifies. Only he can end her suffering. I’d somehow hoped Hannah would get a happy ending, but after twenty years of horrific abuse, how is happiness even possible? To pay off his soul debt, Patrick has to return Macaria to her parents. That’s quite an ask. Oh, and he has to do it alone.

Jono is not happy being left behind after the battle. He settles back into life with Sage, his dyer, and Wade, the dragon shifter who is still eating them out of house and home. In case you couldn’t tell, Wade is the comic relief. Patrick traveled across the veil during Samhain. Time is different in the other world, so the wait is doubly painful for Jono. But Patrick is determined to make it back to his mate. So what happens when Persephone offers to sever the soulbond between the mage and the werecreature? Well, you’ll have to listen to find out.

OMG, this is so much going on in this book. The overarching theme of good versus evil is viewed through numerous lenses and rarely is it straightforward. The gods have their ways of dealing with mortals, and Patrick’s job is to keep the world safe. Not a small task. But he has Jono, so it makes success a possibility.

So the series is over. I’ll be sorry to see it go. I have to give a huge shout out to Gary Furlong who has shone through the entirety of the books. His narration was amazing, and between his voice and Ms. Turner’s words, I was mesmerized. I might even go back to do a re-listen now I have a better idea of the mythology. Should have paid more attention in the ninth grade. Definitely recommend.

All Debts Must Be Repaid.

MM, Paranormal Suspense, Adventure, Romance. Seventh and final book in the series, best listened/read in series order due to long and complicated plot. Non stop action throughout the story with all kinds of Paranormals and God's making an appearance. Easy to listen to/read if you have read the others in the series and definitely a page turner, in fact I would say binge worthy. Thoroughly enjoyed listening/reading their story. I listened/read the book at the same time which I now wish I hadn't as it highlighted some narrating errors that I probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise. It would of scored five across the board if not for that. A fantastic series that has given me many happy satisfying hours.

Nail Biter

This series couldn't have had a better ending and the fact that it happens on Samhain makes it perfect for the season. Patrick, Jono, their pack and allies have to summon every bit of strength and every trick they possess to stop the carnage about to be unleashed on the world. This is one rollercoaster ride where you are never sure who's going to survive or how great the physical and emotional damage might be. Strap yourself in and don't miss this. Gary Furlong's performance here is wonderful. You feel the character's pain and uncertainty and also, the strength they gain from each other.
