Murder is for the crows.

There's a mass murderer loose on the streets of London, and he's dead set on making Rosemary Lillywhite his next victim. After receiving a second threat, she should have gone straight to her chief inspector beau, Max Whittington, but Rosemary is sick and tired of being treated like she's made of glass.

How many murder investigations does a lady detective need to solve to earn a little respect?

Rosemary wishes she hadn't asked that question when another dead body turns up — this time, on her own doorstep — and the papers insinuate she's the responsible party. In order to clear her name, Rosemary will have to delve deep in to a murderer's sordid past.

She'll also have to continue keeping secrets, no matter what it does to her relationship with Max.

Now, everyone's a suspect in a case that's even more twisted than murder.

The narrator I really like a lot. I listened to several other books that she has narrated in this series and I think she really adds a lot to the story. The story itself is enjoyable. I really like this series as well. I was blown away by the ending. Always such a good mystery! The main characters are always fun to revisit in the books.

Enjoyed!!

A Twisted Case of Murder: A 1920s Murder Mystery (Mrs. Lillywhite Investigates Mysteries Book 8), my fifth read from author Emily Queen. An enjoyable well-written, 5-hour 23-minute/26-page historical mystery, the eighth book in the Mrs. Lillywhite Investigates Series. “I received a complementary Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. Caren Naess' narration was excellent and adds to the enjoyment of the read/listen. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

A five star read/listen

I love this series, and the character development has been what kept me coming back. Rose, Vera, Freddy, and Max are intelligent (even Freddy, though he tries to hide it), entertaining, and likeable. Every book before this has been 5 star in my opinion, but this one had several fatal flaws for me. First, there really isn't an investigation, and to the extent there is some semblance of one, Rose operated pretty much solo. Second, Rose and Max are together infrequently, and when they are, they are fighting. (I kept waiting for them to get beyond the upheaval and found Des's return to be an unnecessary distraction when the space could be better used on Max and Rose.) Finally, the book ends on an unsettling note where Rose and Max are concerned.

I want romance in my mysteries, but this book fails on both counts. I sincerely hope the next book in the series satisfactorily resolves the issues between Max and Rose and returns to a more traditional mystery/investigation.

I enjoyed this book as much as the others in the series. I understood Rosemary's point-of-view as she was tired of being gaslighted by the men around her. I applauded her independent spirit and desire to find the man who was threatening her. I liked Rosemary and her circle of friends. I appreciated the information regarding gardening. I thought Caren Naess' narration was superb as her performance nuanced the characters and the settings to bring them to life. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
