Alright YA Thriller

I had high expectations from this book starting out. Witchy YA thriller set right after the Halloween season—sounded like a really fun read! All in all, I would say it was just so so.

The book started off well and was pretty fast paced. While a group of teenage friends are performing a spell on the beach, they find a young dead woman washed ashore. As the police investigation into the murder ensues, one of the young women who discovered the corpse is haunted by her spirit. The spirit propels her and her friends to locate more bodies and to further investigate the shore town murders.

Over time, my interest in the plot started to wane. The final ritual of the murderous occult group was difficult to follow, while the book’s conclusion switched the emphasis from thriller/mystery to teen romance. The story had its moments; but overall, did not leave any lasting impression with me.

Perfect autumn read

Cozy, witchy horror mystery. Not quite as good as ”The Depths”, which I loved, but still good.
