Is not the very meaning of love that it surpasses every objection against it?

Jilted. Never did Mr. Darcy imagine it could happen to him.

But it has, and by Elizabeth Bennet, the woman who first hated and rejected him but then came to love him - he believed - and agree to be his wife. Alas, it is a short-lived, ill-fated romance that ends nearly as soon as it has begun. No reason is given.

More than a year since he last saw her - a year of anger, confusion, and despair - he receives an invitation from the Bingleys to a house party at Netherfield. Darcy is first tempted to refuse, but with the understanding that Elizabeth will not attend, he decides to accept.

When a letter arrives, confirming Elizabeth’s intention to join them, Darcy resolves to meet her with indifference. He is determined that he will not demand answers to the questions that plague him. Elizabeth is also resolved to remain silent and hold fast to the secret behind her refusal. Once they are together, however, it proves difficult to deny the intense passion that still exists. Fury, grief, and profound love prove to be a combustible mixture. But will the secrets between them be their undoing?

Tthis is the first Pride and Prejudice variation that I really don't like. it is overall one of the most depressing stories ever told, except for the very short happy ending.

Unfortunately, it's too much like my own life to realy want to relive all of the suffering and agony that tthese people suffered because they decided to love, but not trust each other. it truly was a match made in hell in this story. it's not even remotely like the delightful story that was originally told by Jane Austen. I just about hated both Darcy and Elizabeth toward the end of this sad story because they both were acting so irrationally and immaturely!

Sadly, I really thought Elizabeth was incredibly ignorant in this story because she didn't trust Darcy enough with this massive problem with Wickham. it made no sense to me at all. Personally, I wish that I had a man like Darcy in my life! I can tell you that if I did, I would always ask him for help whenever I needed it.

Come to think of it, I do! I do have a super man like that in my life that I can totally trust. His name is Jesus or Yeshua. and this review that I just wrote showed me where I've been going wrong myself. So thank you - in hindsight.

MOST DEPRESSING p & P VARIATION EVER! BUT ALSO MADDENINGLY NSIGHTFUL.

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book and Ive purchased alot of P&P variations. This is one of my favorites. If you read the original you know that Colonel Fitzwilliam is a side character we dont really get to explore. In alot of variations he is Darcys closest friend who is usually there for comic relief. He's attracted to Elizabeth but he needs to marry well so he easily steps aside for Darcy. I loved seeing him as someone who's jealously and resentfulness builds up over time. Even though I already guessed the twist at the end it was still enjoyable. The narration was wonderful but the epilogue was kinda weird and not needed.

Loved it!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Mr Frost had me doubled over in laughter at times from his droll reading of the story, and Colonel Fitzwilliam’s storyline was entirely unexpected and surprising. The Darcy/Elizabeth story also had several twists that made for a very enjoyable listen. Highly recommended.

Good story, excellent narration!

I must admit, my initial reason for listening to this P&P variation is that I have now subscribed Harry Frost's voice to how I imagine Darcy's voice. I did come to really enjoy the story. It is nice to see a different villain. This villain's actions, although cruel, were believable. Of course the same irritants are thier long lasting negative impacts on the Darcys.

Great listen and excellent story.

Could Darcy consider a 3rd proposal?

5 minutes into the book and I was blown away, I could not put it down. There was so much nail biting, intrigue, and many WTF moments. I truly believe this is the best out of all the spinoff books (about 30 so far) if your are a fan. Must read!! Great voice, pace and flow.

Amazing book. One of the best ever of them!!

The last 3rd of this book was predictable and waaay too drawn out. The editor should have cut several chapters that repeated the same sentiments over an over. I am giving it 4 stars because the dialogue is good and twists are fun.

good premise but too long

This book is heavy and full of anguish for ODC. Their HEA and the unexpected plots twists make all the heartache worthwhile.

I love this book and the brilliant narration brings it to life!

First of all, there is no narrator as good as Harry Frost! His skill of changing his voice for every character is unmatched. Even his female voices are so good! Secondly, the plot has many things going on, and the twists just kept me guessing and so interested. The romance for Darcy and Elizabeth is slow and lovely, but with ups and downs. I must say I did not like the Colonel and the story surrounding him. Other than ODC, the Colonel has always been my favorite character in most P&P variations, so that was the only thing I did not like. This book has become one of my top favorites!

One of My Favorites!

Shocking turn of events throughout the storyline. It was quite evocative. To learn of so much treachery, deceit and wanton behavior and still have ODC have their own HEA even if it was slightly marred at the end by Lydia's elicit confessions.

Oh My!

It was just really dark in many ways but I like Amy D'Orazio and despite the title, which doesn't prepare the reader for what's is going to happen, the book is still very much worthwhile.

The darkest P and P variation I've ever read
