Publisher's summary

A voice from beyond the grave!

"You are going to die here," I heard myself say - but of course there was no one to hear.

The door to this black and airless place had slammed shut behind me, shoved by an unknown hand. I desperately tried to open it, my nails scraping on the cold steel, though even as I struggled, I knew it was hopeless, the lock had snapped shut. I did not even bother to scream, for I knew the door was soundproof.

Yet even so, in my mind it seemed I could hear the sound of laughter...Lisa's laughter...Lisa, who had lured me here...Lisa, who would now have company in the grave.

Returning to the U.S. from London, Lennith found herself enmeshed in a web of horrification and terror at Hillhouse, site of happy childhood memories. Home of her best friend Lisa, always so laughing and gay. Lisa, her dearest friend. Lisa who had urged Lennith Forrester to come to the luxurious mansion known as Hillhouse. Lisa, who was already in her grave when Lennith arrived. Lennith could not believe what they said about Lisa. Lisa was too vital, too alive, to have died by her own hand....

Then, as the door to the walk-in safe closed behind her, Lennith heard Lisa's voice, seemingly from beyond that grave. But not the Lisa she thought she knew. For now Lisa seemed all that was evil, and Lennith was caught in her spell....

So creepy good

Wow. I never would have guessed who done it. I enjoyed the reveal and the journey getting there. Sky was a sly dog, and I appreciated that. Entertaining and kept me interested. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life. I recommend this book.

Epic Thriller!

Don't let the fact that this is an older book dissuade you from trying it! This is the most intriguing and and satisfying book I've listen to in a long time!!! Beautifully written, this book drew me in and captured my imagination. Hadley's narration gives life to these characters, and the shadows that surround them, masterfully, at times giving your skin goosebumps with the suspense. I really did not want it to end and never guessed the ending. Would love more audio books from this author/narrator combo.

Gothic Romance

This is a typical Gothic romance, complete with a rich family, mysterious deaths, and a creepy mansion. Nothing really unique or surprising, but if you love this genre, you will probably enjoy this book.

The narrator does a good job and keeps the listener's interest in the book.
