Publisher's summary

A Peacock in the Land of Penguins brings new insight to an important topic - cultivating new ideas instead of "business as usual." Written in a charming, engaging style, this contemporary corporate fable tells the story of a peacock who struggles to be himself while surrounded by penguins. Can these seemingly opposite birds work together? This story echoes one that is unfolding each and every day in organizations all across the country - how to build a corporate culture of creativity and capture the talent, energy, and commitment of all employees.

"Every once in a while a small book comes along that deals with a profound subject in a very simple, elegant way," says Ken Blanchard, co-author of The One Minute Manager. "This is a tale of the perils and possibilities of being unique and creative in a world that values comfort, safety and the predictability of conformity. If you are interested in new ideas for making yourself and your organization successful, then read this little book."

Now expanded with new tips and tools for teaching penguins to fly.

Critic reviews

"The beauty of metaphor is that it communicates meaning, not just information, which is why I learned so much from this book about creativity, corporate culture, and organizational transformation. I also learned a lot about penguins and peacocks - lessons I will never forget." - (Warren Bennis, author of Organizing Genius and Managing the Dream)

Absolutely Relatable

This instantly became one of my favorite books. It is definitely relatable still today and this behavior is still in the workplace.

A Corporate Help Guide

I bought this book thinking it would be a cute story about LGBT issues, but it turned out to be a guide for working in corporate businesses instead. Still, I was surprised to find that some of the suggestions presented here are very applicable to dealing with LGBT struggles.
Turning everything into birds is a very clever way to explain the tricky social environment of big business to someone who has never even been employed by one.
