Publisher's Summary
Starting over is never easy, but in Thunder Point, where newcomers are welcome and friends become family, it's possible to find yourself again. New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr takes us on a moving and rewarding journey as a young woman finds new hope.
After losing her child, Ginger Dysart was lost in grief. But since moving to Thunder Point, a small town on the Oregon coast, Ginger is finally moving forward. Her job at the flower shop is peaceful and fulfilling, and she's excited to be assisting with the Lacoumette wedding.
In spite of her lasting heartache, Ginger is swept up in the pleasure of the occasion. But the beauty of the Lacoumette farm and the joy of the gregarious family are ruined by an unfortunate encounter with the bride's brother, Matt. Struggling with painful memories of his own, Matt makes a drunken spectacle of himself when he tries to make a pass at Ginger, forcing her to flee the scene in embarrassment.
But when Matt shows up at the flower shop determined to make amends, what started out as a humiliating first meeting blossoms into something much deeper than either of them expected. Everyone around them worries that Ginger will end up with a broken heart yet again. But if Ginger has the courage to embrace the future, and if Matt can finally learn to let go of the past, there may still be hope for a happy ending.

COMFORTS OF CARR AND PLUMMER
I have listened to ALL of Robyn Carr's novels that are narrated by Therese Plummer and absolutely NEVER grow tired of hearing her voice. This latest novel, although it's not listed as a Thunder Point release, is no exception. With the power of R. Carr's writing talent and T. Plummer's voice ability, I would put them on the very top of my favorites list. I was first hooked when I listened to the Virgin River series and although there are many books in the series, I was at a loss when I got to the last one. Now I crave the next new release from Thunder Point and truly hope Therese Plummer will ALWAYS be the narrator. This is a credit well spent!

Lots of words: Plot very thin
Observations:
Therese Plummer, as always, does a masterful, utterly fabulous job of bringing the characters to life. There are few narrators who are her equal.
Robyn Carr was in a very wordy mood when she wrote this - and that's my kindest assessment. There is lots and lots of "telling us; not showing us." We get a huge amount of exposition - most in the form of inner and outer "dialogue" by the two main characters (Ginger and Matt) and after a while it becomes predictable - something to get through in hopes that pretty soon something will happen.
Anyone who hasn't read the entire Thunder Point series will be very lost, very quickly.
There's not really much of a plot.
The Sue Lynn and Charlie thread seems to have been left hanging. Next book, I suppose.
I'm not sorry I listened to it, but it was disappointing.

Just not that impressed on this one :o/
Let me preface this with the fact that I am avid Robyn Carr listener, own and have relistened to every book at least 3x honest and truly. While I prefer the VR series to TP, I have slowly embraced the new settings, characters, etc, and have enjoyed the other installments.
I just can't give this one anything more than 3 stars for story. The narration is perfect, and anyone who loves Robyn agrees Therese Plummer is without compare. However, this book lost my interest several times and there were a few things that bothered me:
- annoying scenes with HER ex husband
- the bad to good scenes with HIS ex wife
- the "we are totally NOT ready to fall in love, and then a few meets and phone calls later - in love, engaged, etc.
- No Marine buddies at Troy's wedding? Wha?! Not even a mention, as if Big Richie, or the other 2 would miss Troy's big day. It was an oversight that left my head scratching.
Just 3 stars for me. I assume from the story that we know who the next book will be about, but don't like how it is setting up the impoverished female to get swept away by a man with means. She is an educated woman, why can't she stand on her own - rescue not needed? It will likely be another down on her luck female who gets her happily ever after from a man and his financial security and all that it implies.
I am by NO MEANS a feminist, I have loved all the other books, but I just don't see the need to constantly make the girls impoverished and then get rescued by men of means in romance. Oh well, looking forward to the next one despite this.

5 A New Hope Stars
Ok this book broke my heart a little. Ok a lot. I bawled.
Ginger is a character I didn’t think was going to be a big role in this series until she came to TP. And then I knew I just knew she was going to get her HEA.
I am so very glad she did, I totally love that she falls for Matt, it was perfect and of course we get out past characters from the last few books. So it’s always feels like each book it’s just a continuation of the book before just with a new main couple.
I think that is what I love best about Robyn’s work.
Love Therese Plummer’s performances! The emotion I swear it’s like it leaps out of my ears. Soo good.

A painfully slow book
I initially liked the book and the flow but then the story changed from relevant and building characters to a lot of page filler conversations. There were so many of these conversations that I finally began listening to it by skipping large portions. A painfully slow story with very little happening and other mini stories about all the secondary characters that added nothing to the main story. I do not recommend this book and I myself purchased it because of the good reviews but this book would have been much better had it been cut in half.
