As good as the 1st book with added Wendell!

Tom Stranger was the first audiobook I ever listened to and I loved it. Murder of Manatees is just as good as the first book, if not even better. Not least because there is more Wendell!! Adam Baldwin did a fantastic job once again and I really, really hope Larry writes another one for him to narrate. If they do I'll definitely get to it.

Cultural Skewering Wrapped in an Exciting Comedy

Larry Correia doesn't pull any punches in this sequel. I've been anticipating this for nearly two years, and it doesn't disappoint -- except when it ends. Some of the jokes, such as the dig at The Guardian, are really only understandable to the fans who follow him on social media; but overall this is readily-understandable and enjoyable regardless of your in-crowd knowledge. Political and cultural humor abounds here, even more than in the first book, and will likely anger many who think man-buns are manly. The book actually opens with a response to criticism of the first book, in the form of a public relations address by the characters themselves.

While much of the humor is ideological, the deliberately over-the-top parody does what political comedy does best: expose the ridiculous by letting it be ridiculous on its own merit. This is then tied up in a fun, hilarious sci-fi adventure full of pop culture references mostly seen through the humor of multiple universes. For me, the style of humor is summed up by one character: President Trump, who never stops tweeting during a crisis and doesn't actually DO anything. Every real-life character, positive or negative, is exaggerated based on one single trait, as good parody tends to do.

Adam Baldwin is great, even better than the first book; his Manatee accent has, if anything, improved considerably, which made it all the more disappointing that they had to bring in a professional interpreter to deliver the Dolphin lines. Still, the clicks are harsh on the human throat, and they probably didn't want to offend any more Dolphin listeners.

BEWARE May cause excessive laughter while driving!

Where does A Murder of Manatees rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is a cherished part of my collection!
Adam Baldwin knocks it out of the park!
His narration is excellent and his rendition of the Manatee language is outstanding! So Nuanced! It is another very amusing installment of Tom Stranger, and the bumbullings of Jimmy the Intern, who is an idiot with is heart in the right place.

What did you like best about this story?

I really do love the storyline of Tom Stranger, Interdimensional Insurance Agent. I loved it back it was just random snippets on Larry Correia's blog. As a coherent narrative it is an excellent light hearted escape from the cares of the world.

What does Adam Baldwin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Adam Baldwin nails the delivery of the main viewpoint, Tom Stranger, magnificently. When I read him now, I hear it in Adam's voice. He really captures the spirit of it all.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I could, I would!

Any additional comments?

Can't wait for the next installment!

Larry and Adam are a fantastic combination.

Yes and I already have, it was so good I played it a second time.

What other book might you compare A Murder of Manatees to and why?

Tom Stranger: Interdimensional Insurance Agent. Honestly not much is

What does Adam Baldwin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

As the voice actor of the book he represents President Baldwin quite well, the resemblance is uncanny....

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, the first time my co-workers were concerned I was laughing so hard, the second listen they wanted to know why.

Any additional comments?

Worth the spend to get a solid performance of Adam Baldwin and the fantastic writing of Larry Correia in one package.

Only 4.8 stars in unacceptable

Dear Mr. Starnger of Stranger and Stranger,

I would like to offer my services on the next panel for the lack of a perfect 5 star reveiw for this book. As some of you know Tom Stranger save my planet, Earth ZZ9 Plural Z Beta, from a Volgon constructor fleet that were trying to destroy my planet to build a hyperspace bypass. He also was able to have peace talks with the dolphins and convinced them to come back to my planet.
The fact that this book dose not have a 5 star reveiw is an injustice to what he does and stand for. I will like to personal be on the next panel even if i have to sit next to aurthor Larry Corria ( that dolphin hate monger) .

Forever Grateful,
Arthur Dent

If I could rate this a 10/10 I would.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would, why because from the first page I was laughing, it was such a fun and wild ride, that is if you have a sense of humor and not easily offended.

What other book might you compare A Murder of Manatees to and why?

The Adventures of Tom Stranger. Because it is the prequel to this one and is just as good.

What about Adam Baldwin’s performance did you like?

The way he voiced the different characters, you could tell he was also having fun and enjoyed the book.

Any additional comments?

As one who has Stranger and Stranger as an insurance agent I was very pleased with this product and how well he handled this incident on my Earth. The customer service was top notch and definitely worth the 10 out of 10 review. And remember you are in good hands with Stranger and Stranger Insurance.

Hilarious adventure, continued

Team Correia / Baldwin do it again. I love this duo. They make me laugh .... the excellent delivery of clever, no punches pulled, material that provides a festive look at how serious we can take ourselves. I had to pause the story especially to laugh long, loud, and hard at the cause of tweet typo!

Strange Days Indeed

Where does A Murder of Manatees rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I am taking it out of the running. The story works so much better if you consider it a politically bent sitcom rather than an audible novel.

What other book might you compare A Murder of Manatees to and why?

As loathe as I'm say go to book one on book two, there really isn't an analogue to this that works.

Which character – as performed by Adam Baldwin – was your favorite?

Donald Trump. Baldwin it appears has a knack of miming voicing. His Obama from the last book was great.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I think it's structured to be listened to a single sitting, so there you go.

Any additional comments?

You have to have a sense of humor to enjoy the book. Whether you are conservative and enjoy skewering liberals or like myself a liberal that can laugh at yourself the book is not going to work if you aren't willing to laugh for two hours. It really is a situational comedy with a strongly conservative bent.

Brilliant

I loved this. The story was funny as hell and Adam Baldwin is the king of narration. My only gripe is that I wish it had been a proper length novel.
