“You’ll basically be my prisoner,” Carson said with one of his smooth smiles. “Sort of like Belle in Beauty and the Beast, but without the singing dishes or the library.”

Olivia fiddled nervously with her purse strap. “The lack of a library is a drawback in a prison.”

When Olivia’s brother embezzles money from work, she’s left to plead his case to his boss and beg for leniency.

The only problem? Her brother’s boss is Olivia’s old high school nemesis, Carson Clark. He’s not known for leniency.

He’s tall, handsome, a football star, and unhappy to be back in his small hometown, taking a break from the NFL while he recovers from an injury.

Olivia offers to work in her brother's place and help Carson renovate a luxury cabin in the mountains. How bad can the job be?

Turns out, pretty bad. She’s tired, sore, and deeply in need of a massage.

And she’s stuck with Carson 24/7 until the project is finished.

Enemies to lovers isn’t my favorite trope. (I think it’s way overused and frequently forced). That said, I LOVE this book. Janette Rallison never disappoints. You get a fun (and frequently hilarious) story with depth. I laughed out loud and even had tears in my eyes at the end.
I love how real the character’s are. They aren’t perfect and they make mistakes. Sometimes big ones.
They Assume. Miscommunicate. Hold grudges. Seek revenge.
Have unseen wounds that they protect with all that they are.
I really like how this story explores enabling an addiction. You sympathize with her but also agree with him.
She never should have enabled her brother. But, if she hadn’t we would never have gotten this story.
I do hope she has learned lesson and backs off on the superhero stuff for her brother. He manipulates it and it just reinforces and encourages his behavior. We never get a satisfactory resolution with that in the end- but, it would be too neat a package if we had.
I loved both the MCs. Rooted for each. Cringed at the miscommunication/misunderstandings that perpetuated and spouted into the animosity that got her shunned for her last two years of school. I would have appreciated if he would have understood what his actions did. He never really does. And they skim over it.
Other than those two things I absolutely loved this book!
Read it three times in two days.
Clean- no swearing. Some innuendos (mostly from high schoolers here overhear the wrong moment of a conversation).
Good kissing. Great character growth.
I think it’s safe for a teen.
