An online video of a girl clawing at the ceiling of her own grave could be the worst thing FBI forensic psychologist Zoe Bentley has ever seen. Perhaps even more disturbing is the implication of the video’s title: “Experiment Number One.” Zoe and her partner, Special Agent Tatum Gray, work as fast as they can to find the monster behind the shocking video, but soon another one shows up online, and another girl turns up dead.

Hooked me from the beginning...
I was so glad to see this book as a kindle first pick so I was able to purchase the audiobook for $1.99. Honestly, I would have paid a credit for it regardless, this book is that good. I listened to Mike Omer's Glenmore Park mystery series and he instantly became an author I watch for.
This book has similarities to to his previous series. A police/FBI procedural with the protagonist having a younger sister who needs protecting and a deranged serial killer who initially appears very innocuous.
The story is told from different points of view including the killer's. You don't get to find out the why until almost the end.
Brittany Pressley does a great job narrating. She does speak kind of slow so I had to listen with the narration speed increased.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I hung in for 4 hours and then returned.
Really lame. I didn't think a story could be gruesome and boring at the same time but the author manages to pull it off. I literally fell asleep listening several times. It just really falls flat. The characters are one-dimensional and unlikeable. It's one cliche after another and amateurish. The narrator brings nothing to the situation either. She sounds bored as well.

This was so good! 5 stars!!
First time I've read this author and let me say it wouldn't be my last! I loved this book! Finished it in one day as I couldn't stop listening to it! Loved the character's and the narrator was fantastic! Great story line...and I have to say there was some humor in it as well....which I don't think is often said to describe this type of genre....but it was so good. Can't wait for book #2....and in the mean time I will definitely check out his other books! Best audio of the summer!

Character's accent had me confused..
This is a good story to play if you don't want to do much thinking. The narrator was okay. Bad with men's voices and I was really confused about the accent she was doing for the main character. I didn't know if they were Australian, British or southern. it wasnt until she said she was from MA that it made some sense.

Ugh: two cliffhangers!
This was a conventional mystery, and I wouldn't have bothered to review, except the ending infuriated me. There were not one, but two cliffhangers.
MILD SPOILER ALERT:
First, we don't find out if the two lead characters get together romantically.
Second, and much worse, there is a last-minute major plot twist that goes unresolved.
The author and editor might have thought this was a brilliant move to ensure that we will purchase/read Mike Omer's subsequent book. But, at least in my case, it backfired. I'll never read another one of his works.

Disappointing
Don’t understand the high rating. Preposterous story with terrible narration. Perhaps if the narration was better I would have found story more interesting instead of being put off by an unlikeable female forensic psychologist from Boston who speaks with a random “Jersey girl” accent. There was absolutely no need to use an accent, especially to only use it occasionally.
Had a hard time posting because of one star review. Had to give narration 2 stars then change it after review was written.

Loved the book and the narration..
I have to go with the 15,000+ four and five star reviewers that liked/loved this book. I really, really liked it and I will definitely read more from this author. As with most books you can find something silly or stupid or immature or vulgar or sick, or whatever in it, but I look past that and ask myself if the murder mystery/suspense was good or was it all of the above descriptions. Yeah, it was good. I liked that it was about MAYBE 2 serial killers, you had to wait until the end to find out. Was it the killer from Zoe’s childhood or was it someone else.
I liked Tatum and Zoe and I was rooting for them to get romantically involved, just a little romance, though. But, alas, it was not to be. I also liked her sister Andrea, as a little girl and as a grownup.
I thought it was amazing that Zoe started reading everything she could find on forensic profiling when she was 14 years old, when 3 girls she knew were murdered, and continued with that career until she became a Forensic Pathologist for the FBI. And at 14 she profiled the real killer but no one believed her because of her age. However, the killer she’s profiled when she was young tried to kill her again while she was working for the FBI BUT he got away and we’ll find out nothing about him until the next book in JUNE of 2019.
No romance and the F-bomb was used 1 time.
As to the narration: GREAT! Brittany Pressley has certainly come a long way recently. Not only with her voices but with the emotions when she reads. I enjoyed her narration immensely.
Another thing I loved, loved, loved about this book was that it WAS NOT written in the first person.

I love that this focused on the forensic psychology aspect instead of a male maverick detective. The story line was clever enough to keep you guessing without having an improbable twist. Already bought the next two in the series as I feel that this is a cast that has got some great potential.

Utterly Absurd...
Infantile C grade cop movie spudge. I keep waiting for Michael Ironside to walk in and growl: 'What's da connection.'
Hey, that would probly've improved it.
This here is what you call a slop of unoriginal narrative served with a side order of cardboard characterisations, and over-seasoned with bland cliches and wince-inducing stereotypes.
I mean, the killer is called: "the Strangling Undertaker" for !&@#*$ sake.
How's about a little sample:
"When Tatum saw Lieutenant Samuel Martinez from the Chicago PD, he was quite taken with the man's mustache. He shook his hand, wondering how the mustache would look on his own face. It was well groomed and thick, with a Tom Selleckish style, giving Martinez's mouth an aura of importance... [his MOUTH has an aura of importance? For pity's sake!]
Tatum suspected that if he tried the same face decor, he'd look like a pervy literature professor who slept with his students. Some mustaches belonged on other people's faces. So far, Tatum had failed to find one that belonged on his own."
This, by the way, is Tatum the FBI agent, whose cat, Freckle, he has just left in the care of his cocaine-purchasing Grandpa, along with strict orders the cat is to be kept well away from the fish he's just been given by his FBI superior, Mancuso.
'But I'm warning you,' says Mancuso, after promising Tatum the single fish from her aquarium. 'He's a bastard'.
And while these morons are knocking heads and chatting about Freckle the Cat, the Bastard Fish, Cocaine Grandpa and Mustache Sam, the Strangling Undertaker is literally in the process of striking again...
Yeah. Not exactly a literary colossus.
The reader is actually ok, but even good reading can't stop this giant clanking honk-box from reeling through your brain like nails down a chalkboard.
Safe to say I'll be returning this and never EVER buying another. I would highly recommend you Swerve Awayyyyyy.
