Fabulous Story!

It is very rare that I find a book that makes me feel like gushing over it. This book is one of those rare ones. It starts out well and just gets better and better. It is action packed, there is not one dull one moment or chapter that could be replaced and the story be just as good, we've all read those books. No, this book is perfection from beginning to end. It is not for the faint of heart or those that need trigger warnings to keep them feeling safe while reading fiction, of all things. It is raw and real, it does not shy away from blood but does not go into the gory details for the sake of shock value. Everything has it's place and is used very well. I will give one warning: this ends on a cliffhanger and even worse, there isn't a book two out yet. I found no mention of a sequel on the author's website so I am not sure what the plans are or if there is even a sequel in the plans. Being as it is well over a year past the initial release date of this book, I'd think book two would be well on it's way or better yet, released already but there isn't a word anywhere that I could find as of late January 2025. Knowing this, read at your own risk. The voice actors did a great job although the Kings and sometimes the Princes, too, had creepy voices and spoke with a weird cadence. It was just odd and not one I would put on the love interest nor their family members. It was distracting, to say the least. The story itself...perfection.

A Break From Your Typical Fantasy Romance

"The Hunt so Wicked" was an enjoyable listen from start to end because it felt unlike anything else in its genre that I've listen to this year. It starts similar to any other book from the fantasy romance genre and then almost immediately takes a turn by adding suspense on top of suspense to build onto this tension that lasts through the entire book. Every time this book had the chance to swap its course back into the usual path by dropping the tension diving feet first into fluff piece normal romance it doesn't, leading to my expectations being subverted time and time again. Midway through the book I felt like i was listening to a thriller because there wasn't a slow moment. The narrators do an amazing job of keeping the tone of the book and never letting it drop. All in all this was a fun listen and I think more people would enjoy it especially as a break from books listed in its same genre.

Refreshing

I wish there was a second book! I loved this fmmc!! I was so sick of a fmmc that couldn’t make a good decision to save her life! This fmmc is refreshing! Less predictable than most romance books aswell. When I thought I was smart and knew a twist it ended up twisting in a direction I did not see!!! I’m a fan! The “the end” part I loved 😂

Plot twist, plot twist, cliffhanger!!!

First off Britt Anderson is phenomenal I love her work! Now as for this book, it is definitely a different tone than her other works. I’m not sure if it’s going to be a RH there is a possibility but time will tell. I absolutely love the bond between Kael, Evie, Isla, and Riv they made the whole book for me.

Lordy I was not expecting those plot twist at the end there, but I’m excited to see how the story progresses. Lastly spoiler so look away if you don’t wanna know anything.

Friendship breakups are the absolute worst and beside everything that happens Kael. The moment between Torin and Alastair and their friendship being irreversibly broke, devastated me. Especially because Torin is very obviously being manipulated by his father.
Also I did find it crazy unsettling how most of the women and the royals just accepted, what the fuck happened in the Hunt. Like, I’m sorry you were just hunted and the people all around you got killed horrifically by the same royals you’re about to get married too!?! And the Royals were basically tricked by their fathers to kill people and somehow in a hour their delusional minds decided. Yeah, everything’s all good. We did what we needed to do for the good of everyone. What !?! Make it make sense.
Finally I think Evie might have the ability to turn into an Owl. Hear me out, we know her dad is the sorcerer that cured the royals but who is her mom? Why could Evie see so well in the dark? Who “betrayed” the King and took the women he was interested in? What happens if she is the last living person from the lost line? Food for thought I could be way off base.

A Hunt I didn't expect

The way this book started I really didn't know what it was going to lead into. I love Evie. She is a female lead with an attitude that seems to plunge headfirst into situations yet she guards her heart and secrets. Her friends she makes along the way are a barrel of laughs and love and you get attached to each and every one of them. I hope there is a second book after this.. I have so many questions still unanswered and people I want to see together. This is just a great listen overall with great narrorators and a lively story to keep you entangled until the end.

PHENOMENAL

Loved it! Britt Andrews is one of my absolute favorite authors!! This book had so many twists and turns you never knew what was going to happen from one minute to the next!! And the ending had one shocking twist after another!! I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds in the next book!

Mixed emotions

I really don’t like the dynamic between the FMC and the potential love interests. I thought I was going to be upset that there isn’t a part two out yet but after how sick I feel from the MMCs in this book I don’t think I care anymore
