I Hate To Say It But...Meh.

I really wish for once that someone would cover different, fresh material when they write a book about the afterlife. Signs after death and their meanings has been beat to death.
I'm sorry to say, but I didn't really gain anything new from this book.
I listened all the way to the end. The narration made me feel sleepy. The narrator should be doing guided meditations not narrating books.🥱

Save Your Credit: There are WAY Better Books Out There!

I had such high hopes for this book, based on the title and the snippet I listened to before buying it. I couldn’t wait to begin my 2 hour commute and start listening!

This book seemed somewhat rudimentary compared to many of the other books on this subject I’ve read over the years, which was beyond disappointing. Additionally, being a skeptic (I absolutely believe in the abilities of legit mediums to communicate with spirits, but I also believe the majority of self-proclaimed mediums are either lacking in ability or blatantly fraudulent), for myself, I require specific, compelling, un-Google-able, validating info to come through to convince me of a medium’s legitimacy, and I didn’t find that here. About 98% of the “spirit messages” contained in the author’s anecdotes of client readings is vague and generalized. Lots of “he/she wants you to know they’re happy and well on the Other Side and they love you and oh they have a wonderful energy.” Which is lovely. but nonspecific and applicable to anyone.

The writing is also over-the-top at times and the author tends to lay it on a bit thick in her telling of these anecdotes, which helps nothing and reinforces my feelings about her abilities (or lack thereof, whichever the case may be.) In this book, you’ll hear the phrase, “…a single tear fell from his eye” (paraphrasing) more than once. Her conversations with clients during readings, as she shares them, sound unnatural; like no one speaks in actual day-to-day conversation. It felt embellished at best and fictional at worst.

The narration is the nail in the coffin here. It only underscores all of these problems, especially the book’s unfortunate fantasy/fiction feel. Her voice per sè is fine. The problem is her delivery. She speaks in a tone which is better suited to a children’s audiobook of bedtime stories/fairy tales. It’s not so insufferable I had to turn it off, but it was grating at times.

Through my own experiences and having been read by and seen psychic mediums, I’m convinced we don’t die and our loved ones never leave us. There are some highly-skilled, genuine psychic mediums out there. Unfortunately, this book did nothing to reaffirm my beliefs.

If you’re grieving and looking for reassurance or confirmation of life after physical death and that your loved one is with you and can communicate with you, save your credit and use it for anything by John Edward (particularly “One Last Time”), Tyler Henry, or James Van Praagh.
