Beneath the Vatican lies a labyrinth older than Rome itself, with sealed halls carved long before the first gospel was ever written. A place where the Church hides what it cannot destroy. When archaeologist Eamon Kade and relic recovery specialist Roxy Kane team up, what they uncover will change the world forever.

An adventure spanning countless continents, forgotten monasteries deep in the Himalayas, and secrets buried deep beneath Vatican City. What waits below was thought to be just a myth. But what they find is alive, and something the world was never meant to see again. As ancient orders rise to defend their secret and the catacombs awaken, Roxy and Kade must decide what humanity deserves to know, and what should remain buried forever.

Couldn’t put this one down.

A God in Chains is exactly what I want from an archaeological thriller. It opens with a missing relic and quickly explodes into a globe-spanning chase involving hidden Himalayan monasteries, Nazi-era treasure routes, and the darker corners beneath the Vatican. The story keeps escalating, and each chapter reveals a new piece of history or danger that raises the stakes.

Roxy Kane is a standout protagonist. She’s smart, tough, and relentlessly capable, never waiting around to be rescued. She drives the action rather than reacting to it, which makes her instantly compelling. Her dynamic with Eamon Kade adds a strong undercurrent of tension that sharpens every scene they share.

What really impressed me was how convincingly the novel blends researched historical elements with an unsettling, almost claustrophobic atmosphere. The sequences set deep within the Vatican archives and catacombs are especially effective, heavy with age, secrecy, and dread. Those moments carry a subtle horror edge that lingers.

If you enjoy stories in the vein of Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones, The Mummy, or Dan Brown’s thrillers, this book delivers. Ancient conspiracies, forbidden archives, buried secrets, and nonstop momentum from start to finish.
