Unique storyline

I love Laraba Kendig writing. Always a great story with wonderful character development. I enjoy Harry frost and Stevie zimmerman’s reading more.

Genius Collins

I really enjoyed this story that places Mr. Collins under a new light. He hit his head at the Netherfield ball and awakens without his obsequious personality. It’s explained that his horrid father would beat him if he was reading a book, causing his true personality to be submerged. It’s always nice to see a positive change in Collins. While the audiobook narrator doesn’t have the polish of a trained professional, she has a pleasant voice and I applaud her efforts. Laraba Kendig’s uplifting writing is perfect for audiobooks.

Fairly entertaining

The story is interesting, the writing while not superb is still far better then some. The author writes in a way that borders anachronistic but not quite.
The performer mispronounces many words and has a stilted cadence. I think that with practice they would be fine.
I own the paperback as well as the audiobook now and wouldn’t recommend against listening for a pleasant few hours of low angst , light hearted fare.

Good story

It was a different story. Not really to my taste. But it was well written and the narrator did a good job but it was not the Queen’s English and being a Jaff story it should’ve been read in proper English if you ask me.

Very enjoyable story, very original

I like Laraba Kendig's books very much, and this story is a good example of her creative imagination: well written
and fun to read. My only problem was with the narrator's mistakes in pronunciation: Hertfordshire and Derbyshire are not pronounced as written to an American ear... and other words

Collins gets sense knocked into his head

This author is super talented - her grammar is perfect. She is excellent at creating believable bright characters. They are so real that they jump off the page. Her story telling skills are remarkable. She does not create overbearing and everlasting angst, which I hate because it makes me very uncomfortable. There is angst but she wraps it up swiftly and appropriately. She must really dislike Wickham because she whacks him swiftly and very harshly every book. Yay! The author is not a very good reading performer, she reads with good expression but her voice is high and she has a regional accent. But WOW is she a talented and captivating writer and storyteller. I have purchased every book of hers that is on Audible and they are all amazing. This particular book, which is short compared to the others is good but the other ones are better. In fact they are some of the best JAFF I have listened to on Audible.

Fun Story, Amateur Narrator

The story is a fun spin on Pride and Prejudice where Mr Collins hits his head and turns out to be an undiscovered genius without people skills. Mr Darcy takes him under his wing, which gives Elizabeth a much different view of his character. I enjoyed reading this book and its sequel so bought the audiobook without listening to a sample first.

The narrator seems to be a relative of the author. She doesn't have the polish of a professional. Several words are mispronounced, the cadence is flat, and she doesn't act out the characters' dialogue. That being said, I still enjoyed the story and I listened to it all the way through. (There have been a few narrators whose voices were like nails on a chalkboard that I couldn't finish listening to.) So while it wasn't what I hoped for, I enjoyed it well enough.

STORY INTERESTING/NARRATOR SO WRONG

I found the story idea to be interesting and really tried to listen as much as I could but apparently the narrator thought she was narrating Little House on The Prarie or something. She is truly such a wrong choice for the this work. I couldn't finish it.
