EXCELLENT. WELL WRITTEN AND PERFORMED

Fantastic space opera. I love the protagonists. Lots of action and a little romance thrown in. Alisa, the fighter pilot of the Alliance and Leonidas, the cyborg colonel of the empire had to work together to get to their goals. Along the way they have to escape from their enemies. A very well written series with witty dialogue , intrigues and politics in the mix. A boxed set of 3 books is really worth the credit. I will be continuing book 4 and I hope book 5 will come out soon.

Not too bad

it was a pretty good story but don't expect too too much, humor was a little corny. if there's more books after these 3 books I might listen to those as well.

Interesting story, mediocre narration

I honestly thought Kate Reading was better than this after listening to the Wheel of Time series. Now it's clear that Michael Kramer's performance was so bad that Kate sounded phenomenal by comparison. It's an otherwise fun story of a distant future that kinda mixes Star Wars with Firefly. If you can deal with Kate's ridiculous character voices, give it a go.

A fantastic military/space opera

It was refreshing to hear a female author write about the main female role that was sensitive and exciting.

On edge

If you've read her other stories then you can guess what's up with the captain and cyborg. The whole time you'll just be sitting there grinding your teeth telling them to just kiss and bed already!

You'll honestly get that feeling regardless. Enjoy!

my humble opinion

The story is very enjoyable. the narrator performs the female characters wonderfully. Her range for the male characters leaves me wanting more.

Lindsay is a great author, this is my third series with her. I truly enjoy her style and imagination

YES!

Not only is this a well-written adventure, but the audio book is superbly narrated. I did not know this author but I'm a fan of Kate Reading from her narration of my very first Audible Epic Fantasy series, so I decided to give this writer a try. I am pleased with the characters and the story, but I'm not pleased that it left me wanting more. I must seek out the other books! Audible I hope you have them!

An easy listen and enjoyable writing style

I really liked the story, the narrator, and her writing style. Just good solid storytelling. I will buy more as I need to see how this turns out, I do wish the upgrade that ship they are flying around in, it sounds like it's a pile of junk :-)

One thing I liked about the characters, they are all flawed....

very well written and performed

good books, very easy to listen to and follow the plot. if it was not an omnibus, I guess the individual books may have been of somewhat lower content/price ratio against similar titles, but as it is - very good listening for not very much money.

Generic

The main problem with this book was that a number of plot twists were recognisable from other books/films of the same genre - which loses the originality feel. Other than that the characters were fine and it is a lighthearted listen,

Loved the books

I have to say I loved this and even got butterflies in my tummy in the epilogue of book 3. Now I HAVE to get the rest because I need to know what happens.

Space chickens, futuristic-mushroom eating- hippy, an android, a doctor/monk on a mission, a security officer dreaming of being a galactic sauce superstar who's running away from the space mob, a lesbian mechanic and a captain just trying to find her daughter. It's brilliant!!

The only fault I can find is the narrator. Unfortunately there really isn't much in the way of character distinction which can get VERY confusing. Also she has a weird way of emphasising parts of a sentence that sometimes you think there is more to come and sometimes it's as though she's just cut off... Very strange. Thankfully the story is strong enough to keep you going.

Good but not for me

Any additional comments?

Other reviewers compared it to Fire Fly guess I should have listened as never really took to that show.

Fallen Empire has good characters and story behind it. But developments in story move to slow for my liking. On book 3 of Omnibus and none of the individual stories for each character progressed much.

Will give FE this, the characters personalities are clear, so you will know who you like, hate or and trust by then.

Enjoyable story and good performance.

An easy listen with a nice mix of action, humanity and touch of politics. The humour worked well, never feeling forced or over done. Kate Reading's narration is great and is well suited to Lindsay Buroker's writing style. This is an enjoyable adventure in space with likeable characters and I look forward to reading more books in the series.
