Lucy gets the same bus every day.

She hopes to get a seat to herself, tries to avoid eye contact, and, if she’s really lucky, reads a chapter of her book.

But it’s a Friday - and the bus is always crammed at the end of the week. Personal space doesn’t exist. She keeps her elbows close and clings to a pole at every juddering stop.

When she gets off, something feels different.

An envelope stuffed with thousands of pounds is in her bag.

Is it the answer to her prayers, or the beginning of a nightmare?

Because, in the end, everything has a price.

This is another solid mystery from Kerry Wilkinson. As with his others, the main character is indeed flawed, but is not made unlikable, which happens so often in today's novels. I particularly loved this story because of Lucy's relationship with Billy. As a dog mom, I enjoy a plot that includes a canine sidekick, and was relieved that he was fine at the end. Wilkinson's books also contain a bit of sly humor and snark, and I personally lol'd at Lucy's musings regarding Trump and Piers Morgan. Alison Campbell is the perfect narrator for Wilkinson's books, and she is at her best here.

Another fabulous Wilkinson story!

The characters were well drawn- with the story winding its way through numerous subplots! Clues were dropped wetting your appetite for explanations! I enjoyed it on many levels!

Very well written and delivered by a great reader

I'm not too sure the author did an outline on this book. I kept waiting, waiting and waiting, for a story, then, the end, ok, so.......? I have no idea why I kept listening. Oh, yea, there was a dog, I love dogs, maybe that was it. The narrator had a lovely British accent, except for that I can't recommend this book in any manner whatsoever.

Huh?
