“A seriously stylish, hugely compelling mystery… I was utterly gripped.” – Lucy Foley
Gabriela is a senior negotiator in the Foreign Office. When she returns to her young family after a seven-month stint in Moscow, something doesn’t seem right.
Isobel is a journalist on the local paper in Camden. After witnessing a violent attack, she starts to investigate. But someone saw her watching, and is making themselves known in increasingly frightening ways.
As Gabriela’s life begins to unravel, Isobel gets closer to the truth, and the two women’s lives converge in this deeply chilling examination of deceit.

Just to make sure, I went back over the last few chapters because I was convinced I missed something crucial... the ending was that bad! It was like the author was late for an appointment and thought, ‘I better wrap this up fast’. A most unsatisfactory feeling at the end of this read... it left me with so many questions and frankly I’m mad!
The ending aside, I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a main character more... a total self centered bitch.
The second main character just never made me care about her at all, even after her ‘tragic backstory’ was revealed... which of course is the reason for her self destructive behavior.
The narrator was amazing and effortless, the best part of this book.
