"The last thing she remembered before losing consciousness was lying prone on the ground after her husband pushed her out of the way. Then she heard the sickening sound of the car hitting her husband and as if in slow motion watched his body fly over her and land several yards away in a field. The car didn’t stop and her husband didn’t answer her mournful calling of his name.”
The police classified it as a hit-and-run accident but Beth believed she had uncovered something at her job that led to her husband’s murder. Continued vandalism of her home and property convinced her she was the real target, not her husband. The problem was nobody believed her. Still a relative newcomer to the small town, Beth chose to isolate herself and deal with her suspicions on her own.
Her attempt at self-isolation was thwarted by a doctor recently arriving in town and working as a temporary ER doctor. Until he met Beth, Howie Anderson had been facing his own demons and wasn’t looking to complicate his already messy life. As their relationship blossoms, they recognize how much they needed each other. Together, could they find the answer to the issues that had torn each of their lives apart.
