Clever plot, interesting characters

Never riveting mystery, the novel nonetheless offers helpful continuing history of the end of WWI with an rich array of new characters in addition to the familiar ones.

Couldn't rest until I heard it all!

This story has Bess tirelessly trying to help her past patient. Above and beyond, never forgetting her duty as a Sister nurse.

Have read all the Charles Todd books more than once. A literary joy, great characters, fast moving action, historical experience, wonderful mystery, and amazing narration!

Loved it'

I have yet to read a Charles Todd book that I didn't like. I look forward to Experiencing Bess Crawford 's problem solving skills. She's so good at it. I love that her character is so dedicated to protecting her patients . Can't wait wait for the next book.
