Publisher's summary

Mathematics teacher Daisy Murphy agrees to participate in a new matchmaking service organized by her pastor and the matron of the orphanage where she has spent the last 15 years.

Romantic, yet practical, she's systematically eliminated all candidates but one and anticipates getting to know him better through months of correspondence.

Time is not on the side of David Taylor. He has a nephew and niece to think about, and his attorney has warned him he will lose custody of both to their rich grandfather if he doesn't have a wife.

A teacher longing for security, a businessman about to lose the only family he has, and a proxy marriage that can give them both exactly what they need.

Lucky David!

After growing up in an orphanage where she later worked, Daisy has to decide who she is interested in marrying and chooses David. He need a wife quickly to ensure that he keeps custody of his young nephew and niece and so they wed by proxy.
She arrives and they begin to make a life together and soon find that they have fallen in love. A lot happens before they realise this and that is what made this story so interesting.
These are all lovely characters brought to life by J. Scott Bennett using his unique voices. He even sings in this audio and that too was a delight.
I listened to the audio version and my voluntary and unbiased review is recorded above.

David & Daisy!

What happens when you want to retain custody of your niece and nephew in the 1800's? You get married! David is threatened to lose custody and in order to keep them agrees to a proxy marriage. Lucky for him he has been corresponding with Daisy, a school teacher who is willing to take the sacrifice. She always wanted to marry for love though. Will these two find out they are destined to be together? I listen to a lot of Mail Order Bride books, and this one is a little different. The characters are not your typical rancher and woman trying to get away from her family. David is businessman and Daisy a school teacher which gives the story a little different depth. Add in the grandfather who is causing the turmoil and we can give him the credit for helping Daisy and David find their perfect match!

J Scott Bennett gives a wonderfully warm performance of the story. He is fantastic changing voices, from children to adult to mature adult. He even provides some beautiful singing! It's a beautiful listen!

Fabulous!

This one was an enjoyable story of a somewhat modern Mail-Order-Bride. David had taken in his brother’s two kids and needed a wife. Daisy was raised in an orphanage and taught school there. David needed a wife because his brother’s father-in-law was trying to take the kids. J. Scott Bennett did a fantastic job narrating it! I especially enjoyed his singing in this one. Great clean story.

Learning to Love

This story was very enjoyable and refreshing. Great narration. Daisy is the second canidate for the new matchmaking service at the orphanage. Her friend Memphis was the first and was to marry soon. Daisy went through the process with her, so she knows what to expect. She selects David, but the time tables are moved up, she has to marry him by proxy, so he can keep his niece and nephew. So off she goes to a man she doesn't really know. At least she has her friend Memphis, to help her along. David is thrilled when he meets Daisy, but things are unusual being married to someone you don't know. Follow their journey to learning how to love.

Sweet, romantic, and funny

Geometry and chicks – not a good combination. Read to find out how they are related.

David and Daisy's story

Another wonderful story in the mail order bride series. David is raising his brother's children and needs a wife quick. The marriage was pulled together after only a few letters. This story is the struggle the couple go through trying to find love and their way as a couple.
Excellent narration by Scott Bennett.

One Fabulous Tale

This was so refreshing and just so entertaining! I loved the plot and the narrator just brought these characters spectacularly to life. This was a quick book, so it wasn't heavily detailed and if that matters to you, seeing the how of everything coming together, this may just leave you wishing for more.

Lovely Story with realistic characters

I'm not generally a fan of romance novels, but I did enjoy this one. The male narrator, really surprised me as he read the female parts so well. While this is not a taut mystery, the characters are real and struggle as they deal with circumstances that force them to jump into a relationship before they are ready. If you looking for a well told inspiring story, I recommend "A Bride for David" to you. I plan to listen to it again some time in the future.
