An over-application of a good idea.

The author set out to convince me to apply his 80/20 rule to my life, and failed to convince. Early on in the text, he assures his readers that his approach is not about cutting corners. As the book goes on, example-by-example, it really starts to look less like a time-optimizing strategy and more like a doing the bare minimum to get by strategy.

My positive takeaway from this book is that in some areas of life, it's best to prioritize efforts that yield the maximum reward and majority of desired outcomes. My biggest criticism is that settling for only 80% in life is a horrible strategy. A lot of things in life take the whole 100%, and if you only give 20% you give up the chance at excellence.

20% of this book is 80% useful.

Perhaps some people could really use this but I feel like most of this book is just “hey I bet the 80/20 rule Could be applied to almost anything”.

You can clearly 80/20 anything!

Not bad. From family to relationships to fitness to friendships to business, you can apply 80/20 to anything.

The author needed more concrete examples and I disagree with him on fitness, but it’s not a bad eye opener.

Interesting idea... over done

2nd book I've read on 80/20 and while well narrated, easy to follow and understand... the book could have used taking it's own advice... that is provide 80% of the benefit by being 20% of the length.

Wasn't long by any means... but very repetitive.

The author should consider doing an 80/20 version of the book itself.
