I Wanted To Like This Book

If you like to hear endless lists of dates followed by recommendations of other books about the person in question, you'll love this book. But I found it so boring. In an effort to find some reason to keep listening to this book I tried skipping over people I had never heard of and who had been dead for 200 years. I figured in a group of 50 people, someone must have an interesting story told in an interesting way. It didn't help. Even when the subject was someone I had heard of, the story telling was uninspired. I couldn't keep my mind from wandering. I have now given up.

Hard to listen to

I found the content excellent. However I found the narrator extremely difficult to listen to. Normally I can get used to a narrator, but never did on this one.

Excellent survey of 50 People God raised up for Ministry

Warren does a good job of providing a concise but informative picture of each persons upbringing, spiritual moment, and acomplishments . James Lewis was a great choice for reading. My only disappointment is that not having the hard copy, I have to listen repeatedly to find the spot where Warren makes recommendation of which books to start reading by one of the 50. Quote tedious. Once case where hard copy is superior.

Hard to absorb

Good short bios on a lot of people, but it's hard to remember who was who. So an overview reading wasn't too valuable.

Encouraging

I find it encouraging to hear about the lives and habits of those who have gone before me. I want to learn from their wisdom.

Interesting historical sketches

Somewhat ecumenical in perspective, but great overview of some well-known and lesser-known preachers and notable Christians of Great Britain and the U.S.

It is good

Even though I disagree with few of the choices I admit that the common desire to pray and study of Gods word was found in all the men and women of God. Should have included Smith Wigglesworth and his book "everlasting faith"

An inspiring read

Challenging. Inspiring. Centrality of God's Word uppermost. Avoidance of modernism and ritualism strongly advised.
