日中京都市内の寺社仏閣、観光地を見て回り、おいしいものを食べたり、ショッピングしたりと充実した時間を過ごした後のお楽しみはやはりお泊りだ。学生たちを乗せたバスが到着したのは思わずため息が出るような綺麗な外観のホテルだった。
ところがなぜかその日、エレベーターが使えないとのことで部屋までは階段を使うように指示された。重い扉を開けた先に出てきたのは従業員用のバックヤード。外観とは裏腹のボロボロの古い空間だった。
