"It's been two years since I received my life sentence of imprisonment."

Diagnosed with a rare form of meningitis, a teenage boy is paralyzed from head to toe - trapped in his own mind. To cope with his imprisonment, he retreats to an imaginary world called his Mind Palace, but the lines between reality and time start to blur into wild adventures after he gets a new roommate - an old, outspoken, Jewish jazz musician with dementia.

What a great story! I didn’t really know what to expect from this book, but the characters and story drew me right in. I’ve seen a few of the tropes in this book used much less effectively elsewhere. This would make a fantastic film!

A unique story that will draw you in

This was such a great story! I was sucked in from the 1st chapter. I'm normally not much of a sappy story reader, but I admit by the end I was tearing up a little bit. I loved the authors comments at the end too!

Good clean, warm fuzzy story. I especially liked the historical aspects. I look forward to more from this author.

Good clean read/listen

The counter view of young and old, coming of age and the inevitable approach of life’s end was beautifully done. Their friendship was heartwarming. The performance was really great too. A very well done audiobook.
