I love me a good Sherlock book and this one was it. Michael Langan has an awesome voice and is such an easy listen. His characters are distinct and memorable. Mark D. Ellis has a solid understanding of the Sherlock world and this book finds a way to blend quite nicely into it. He does make Sherlock more lively in this story and that was a little shocking at first, but overall it is worth a listen.

Solid Sherlock book great performance

Holmes and Watson are joined by Loveday Brooke (one of the first fictional female detectives stories written by Catherine L. Pirkis, 1890s) to stop a technologically advanced cabal that plan to attack during the Paris Worlds Fair. Mark D. Ellis uses a mix of fictional and real characters work together to thwart the dastardly scheme. The narration by Michael Langan is outstanding. He creates unique voices for the many dozens of characters which brings them and the story to life.

Very exciting adventure!

Story is set when Holmes and Watson are younger and it is in an almost steampunk world, with them as government agents. Addition of a female operative, Loveday Brooke, is a positive element. All different but still well done. Performance by Mike Langan is once again top notch.

Different Twist

What an interesting twist placing Holmes and Watson in government agent roles. I also enjoyed the humor and hint of love interest by adding Loveday Brooke. It showed Holmes in a more vulnerable light but also gave him a certain recklessness that was heroic. Watson is on more equal footing with Holmes in this story. The plot was a bit murky but definitely fast moving and fun! Hope to see continuation of this storyline!
