Publisher's summary

Western civilization has had its run.

The West's own governments are giving up, have already lost, or are leading the charge to something else. This doesn't sit well with those who believe in liberty. This is the story of a people who have lost the political fight, they've lost the culture wars, they haven't seen a level playing field in a generation, and they are about to be made serfs. None of that matters. They're leaving....

Fresh starts are never easy. This is the first book in a story about a new world, different enemies, and old luggage.

Author's note: We've all consumed sci-fi or speculative fiction where the dystopian backdrop is some form of fascism - usually portrayed as conservatism run amok. This is not that kind of book. The backdrop of this book is a socialist and corporate statist disaster on a global scale. It is basically fascism arising from the left. I had to give the protagonists a reason to do what they do.... As such there are numerous disturbing scenes within, portraying everything from socialized medicine, five-year economic plans and government-enforced serfdom. If you think any of that sounds like a panacea for the future, you will not like this book.

The debut novel from a former CIA operations officer who has decided that his lifelong writing habit/hobby/obsession is more fun than "real" work.

Easily the Best I've read in a while!

Nice to find some truth in Fiction. Some of the best Science Fiction makes a commentary on current events by showing what effect those events could have on the future. I CAN'T WAIT for the 2nd and 3rd books to come out on Audible. I'm buying them the day they release!

When the government goes too far

I have recommended this series to a few of my friends after I finished book 4. I think you will enjoy this book if you like SciFi politics and military stories simultaneously. The writer has quite a bit of realism in military operations. I can easily imagine the series being turned into a tv show or movie series.

Sci-fi Atlas Shrugged

Ok so this definitely has a political stripe to the story. If you’ve read/listened to Atlas Shrugged you’ll like this. If you’re set on socialism being a good thing for the world, you might not like this. The narrator does a great job. Moves into different accents and characters really well. The story was good. Society is collapsing due to oppressive government and the people who want freedom figure out a way to escape the reach of said gov. Looking forward to book 2.

DIFFERENT....A new twist.

I read a LOT so it's always nice to find a NEW STORY LINE. Not sure if the INNOVATIVE story telling will continue, but one can hope.

Great story terrible performer

I absolutely love the story but I don’t understand why they got the oldest man they could to read. The dude doesn’t even change his voice for males and females it’s just him talking to him. Awful performer great story

Listed to the whole series 3 times IN A ROW

This series is a story unique and unheard, well told, and with great character development - not a new take on an old story, like Zombies, aliens, or the apocalypse. If I had to rank the books in order, it would be 2, 4, 3, 1. It is a must - read for fans of milscifi. It’s thrilling, funny at times, and is a good story about the fight for freedom, sacrifice, friendship, family, and a genuinely good story about taking down an inter-world bully. What are you waiting on?
