Publisher's summary

Renegade Star: Publisher's Pack 6 contains Books 11 and 12 of the Renegade Star series.

Renegade Descent, Book 11:

The Celestial War has arrived.

Captain Hughes and his team of rebels have created a shaky alliance with the same government that sought to end them, but even that might not be enough. In order to combat the Celestial threat, Jace will need to convince the Sarkonian Emperor to not only join his cause but lend him the resources he needs to overpower the enemy.

The battle for tomorrow will take more than any single empire can manage. Each side will have to learn to work together if they ever hope to overcome their shared enemy, but allies are not easily made from enemies, and not everyone will be as eager to stand side-by-side.

With allies like the Union and the Sarkonians, who needs enemies?

Renegade Rising, Book 12:

The Great Celestial War isn't coming. It's already here.

After taking over the artificial metal planet from the enemy, Jace must focus his energies on locating Athena, the missing Cognitive and one of the greatest intelligence assets to ever exist.

But Athena's whereabouts are entirely unknown. With no sign or clue to guide the search, Jace must continue to explore the many layers deep inside the planet, for they hold many secrets and technological wonders that reach far beyond what anyone can imagine.

And somewhere deep inside the walls of this ancient place, someone is listening. An intelligence of unknown origins has been watching and waiting, spying on the humans. Their motives are unknown. Their identity is unknown. Their allegiance is unknown.

But a Renegade never falters, and Jace has a job to do.

If you're a fan of Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, or Indiana Jones, you'll love this space opera epic.

Good Books

Even more of the story. I am glad they do these 2 books at a time. That way I can get a good fix.

Great story

I’ve listened to the entire series to this point, and you have to suspend belief at many places, but it’s a great read.

The best part in this one is the bloopers at the end. I was laughing out loud at the grocery store, mask and all, and got a lot of strange looks! Thanks Luke!

Celestial!

Great time, moved along really well and I think there is a love triangle between two union officers but not sure yet.

The adventure continues! Been waiting so long!

As always, Chaney delivers on another exciting entry. I have been waiting so long for this and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just a few more books left before the series is done and you can feel the build up in this. The end is going to be so epic!

Good continuation

Great narration as usual. I especially love the bloopers at the end—wouldn’t mind even more of those.
Otherwise an OK set of middle books in the series, with an interesting new cognitive character, and fun dynamics between the political sides.
Really getting sick of the phrase “on impulse”.
One audio editing gaffe, where a phrase is repeated when it was clearly meant to be dubbed over.

I have to say, it’s the performance.

It is a fun story, as told by Luke Daniels. I honestly probably wouldn’t have gotten this far, were I reading it myself. Yeah, I’m gonna finish it.

Solid Performance

While the Story is certainly entertaining. Luke Daniels absolutely brings it to life! And every audiobook needs a blooper chapter like this one!

Hughes is getting maudlin

While it’s nice that the protagonist cares about his people, Hughes overdoes it to the point of annoyance. He’s like this big smothering mother hen. Always trying to keep his people from going into danger then getting extremely emotional when he thinks one of them is hurt or in danger. This should be an exploration and survival story with lots of dangers and battles. Yet the head character is acting as though he’s a headmaster at a kindergarten full of entitled ankle-biters. Gets annoying after a while.
