From Dead Eleven author Jimmy Juliano, a twisty, edge-of-your-seat novel about a unique haunting in the early 2000s

Piper Lowery, a public library clerk in charge of liaising with the local middle school, can tell right away there’s something strange about the new girl in eighth grade. Avery Wallace won’t touch any kind of technology, not even the computers at the library, and her mother comes to school with her every day, refusing to leave her side—not even when Avery uses the restroom.

And then there are the rumors, the whispers Piper hears from kids in the hallway and parents around town: Avery’s mother is a witch. Her sister and father were killed by something supernatural. A strange virus killed them.

Seeing how isolated and lonely Avery is, Piper befriends her but quickly realizes it might just be the worst decision she’s ever made. Because there’s something dark inside Avery Wallace, and it’s spreading . . .

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Brilliantly conceived and executed, this one will leave you nostalgic for the days of dial-up internet, AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), and Napster." —Criminal Element

"Juliano delivers a fun, nostalgic horror tale…13 Months Haunted immediately transports readers back in time, with dial-up internet, early coding, and Napster and 1990s–2000s music references." Booklist

“Inventive…Juliano’s premise is fresh, the central puzzle is intriguing, and a present-day frame narrative told by one of Piper’s distant cousins raises the stakes.” Publishers Weekly

"An eerie and unnerving tale about unspeakable evil in your inbox, Jimmy Juliano's 13 Months Haunted pulls off an impressive feat--it makes you afraid to do something you've been comfortably doing for years. Important emails will be deleted because of this book. But hey, it's better to be safe than sorry, right?" —Nick Medina, author of Indian Burial Ground

“Ideal for fans of Stephen King and STRANGER THINGS, Jimmy Juliano’s 13 Months Haunted offers fresh and chilling small-town horrors portrayed through the lens of the Internet boom of the early 2000s, blending computer viruses and the nostalgia of hearing ‘You’ve got mail’ with an intimate haunting by a dark force that is pure evil. The story reminds us that some attachments should never be opened, and some friendships pose a deadly cost. Great scary fun.” —Craig DiLouie, author of Episode Thirteen

“Steeped in early-aughts nostalgia and teeming with tension, 13 Months Haunted is an eerie supernatural spookfest that harnesses the spirit of Y2K-era panic to marvelous effect. Through his sly exploration of tech’s insidious side, Jimmy Juliano has crafted an ominous parable for our modern age. You’ll want to read this one with the lights on!” —Elizabeth McCullough Keenan & Greg Wands, international bestselling authors of Trust Issues

This story is a creepy slow burn that kept me hooked. One of the elements that intensified it for me was how well the author captures the familiar feeling like someone is nearby watching us, but we don't know who or what they may do next.
The ending was made even more intense because I read it late at night when I was the only one awake.
This was my first book by this author so I don't have any comparisons to make. I enjoyed the blend of the supernatural, technological, and live human threat elements in one story. I'm not sure I'd call the end happy though. So if you're looking for a cozy or neatly wrapped-up scary story, maybe not this one. It was excellent to read though and I enjoyed.

all the Scary Haunting Thrills with less Horror Gore.

It was a very engaging book. I highly recommend. A little, horror, sci-fi and family dynamics

A fun 90s setting, creepy, techie retro!

This may be the worst book I've ever listened to. To call it juvenile would be an insult to juvenile writers. I could not return this title so I forced myself to finish it as a punishment for getting it in the first place. Narrator was also awful.
The conversations in this book, inner or otherwise, was so utterly banal and inane I literally found myself getting irrationally angry. MC and the tone she was read in sounded as though the author doubted the reader's intelligence. I am certain that I am dumber for having read this.

If a person over 12 Wrote this I'll eat my hat!
