「籠の鳥」30分)
園子さんという年配の女性の体験談。
昭和40年代か50年代の事、園子さんの誕生日に父親が番の文鳥を買ってきた。
少し前に近所の鳥屋のショウウィンドウ越しに見たインコやオウムを園子さんが欲しがっていたのを覚えていたのだ。
その日から、園子さんはかいがいしく、愛情をこめて二羽の世話をしたのだが、なぜか鳥たちは日増しに元気がなくなり、冬の日の朝、まず一羽が死に、後を追うようにそれからひと月足らずでもう一羽も死んでしまったという。
意気消沈し悲しみに暮れる園子さんの部屋の窓辺には、空っぽの鳥籠だけが残された。
