When Wu and Garmadon lost their way in the middle of the desert, they are lucky enough to find shelter in a village surrounding an ancient pyramid. As soon as they step inside it, the door behind them shuts suddenly. The brothers get trapped inside the tomb that turns out to be the home of the mighty Sphinx. Getting out of the ancient trap will be a true challenge for the young ninja.

An archaeological expedition takes Master Wu, mentor to the six ninjas, Misako, Lloyd's mother, and Clutch Powers, the adventurous archaeologist, to an unexplored island. Numerous dangers and carnivorous plants lurk around every corner, and the popular characters from the Ninjago universe must prove their survival skills. Will they manage to leave the island again, or will Lloyd, Kai, Zane, and co. have to rush to their aid?
