Staff Sergeant Henry Wells feels like he's seen it all. When he finds himself sitting on a month of leave after his latest deployment, the Green Beret spends it in the Montana badlands with his brother. He hasn't seen his paleontologist brother in years, but digging up old bones and cooking for grad students seems like a welcome break from the endless training and chaos of his last 10 years.

When a mysterious signal begins reaching out into deep space, Captain Henry Wells, Commander Qrora, and the rest of Midnight November are understandably concerned. Fearing an ancient enemy of the M'nok is about to attack. Henry and Qrora lead an expedition to the moon to uncover the source of the mysterious signal, and more importantly, to shut it down.

Henry Wells and Qrora figured this day would come. The same forces that wiped out a galactic civilization are descending on the Solar System in numbers. But the Earth won't go quietly into the dark night. Her people have been preparing new weapons, ships, and technologies to turn the tide of battle. They practiced strategies and tactics to deny any advantage to the enemy.
