"In 2021, to my delight, women's voices dominated my favorite histories, memoirs, and historical fiction. Historians Tiya Miles, Annette Gordon-Reed, and Nikole Hannah-Jones amplified the stories of people whose lived experiences broadened America's origin story. Fiction writers like Natalie Haynes and Lauren Groff focused on a female POV, while activists (Luvvie Ajayi, Sarah Schulman, and Elsa Sjunneson) inspired with the heroism of women who spoke out against erasure.
