In this episode, Pharmacy Manager Dr. Neubauer will share her experience of being the first to implement frozen IV premixes within the Saskatchewan Health Authority. She will explain how her community hospital site first got involved, explain how they navigated through change management despite staffing shortages, and provide considerations for other organizations looking to introduce these products.

IV Insulin has been defined as a top-rated high-alert medication by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, and yet options to improve the safety of these infusions have been limited until recently. Dr. Kevin Hansen will discuss his experience using Myxredlin, a ready-to-administer insulin infusion product that has changed how many organizations manage these high-risk infusions in the US. He will also introduce some of the concepts for consideration when organizations are exploring the introduction of ready-to-administer products including patient safety, pharmaco-economics, drug stability, human resource management, and workflows. Albert will be giving us an overview of the digital transformation initiative at Humber River Hospital and how this has translated into pharmacy automation. He will explain how he and his team have built a pharmacy department with an innovation lens (what was the process, what areas were prioritized). He will also discuss the benefits from a workflow perspective and what the future roadmap looks like for the pharmacy department at HRH.
