  • 26.02.04 “A New Day!” (John 5:1-13)
    Feb 3 2026

Have you ever waited for something for a very long time? When finally, your waiting was fulfilled, how did it change your life? Are you still waiting and if so, how is waiting affecting your life now? Today, let’s join Jesus in Jerusalem as he encounters a crippled man who had waited many years hoping somehow things might get better for him. This story is found only in John 5:1-15. While Jesus had come to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals, John does not specify which festival, so we don’t know exactly what time of year, or when in the story of Jesus this event happened. But let’s join Jesus today as He encounters as cripple and his life changes forever.

  • 26.02.03 “Offensive Words of God?” (John 6:60-71)
    Feb 2 2026

How do you handle it when someone offends you by what they have said to you or about you? Can you imagine God asking humanity: “Does My truth offend you?” Did you know Jesus said those words to a group of people, including His 12 disciples, when Jesus was explaining a deep and controversial truth to them?

  • 26.02.02 “Jesus’ body & blood?” (John 6:53-58 & Matt. 26:26-28)
    Feb 2 2026

Most people tend to live life on a very superficial level. By that I mean most people resist pushing too deeply into anything, perhaps for fear they won’t like what they find or perhaps because they don’t want to invest the time and effort to get down to the root, the foundational issues. Superficial relationships, superficial spirituality, superficial morals, superficial parenting etc. Of course, the dysfunctional results of superficial living are evident all around us, aren’t they?

  • 26.01.31 “Jesus’ Controversy” (John 6:45-52)
    Jan 30 2026

How do you respond when you hear or read something that just doesn’t sound right, especially if it is said or written by someone you trust and respect? What if that confusing something is in the Bible?? The past few days we’ve been looking very carefully at some things Jesus was saying to a crowd of people as recorded by John, one of the disciples who was there that day. The statements Jesus made that day are HUGELY significant for every person, of all time!

  • 26.01.30 “Jesus the ONLY Way?” (John 6:40-44)
    Jan 29 2026

    If so,

I left you yesterday standing in a crowd of people on the shoreline of the Sea of Galilee listening to Jesus say some shocking and remarkably HOPEFUL words. Do you remember? Jesus had begun by comparing Himself to the manna which fell from heaven early every morning in the wilderness and fed 1 million Hebrew slaves whom Moses had led out of Egypt, many centuries before! God had fed them daily for 40 years, keeping them alive in a desert with a daily bread delivery from heaven! (Exodus 16) Jesus declared that in a similar way God had sent Him from heaven to earth and Jesus said these stunning words: “I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.” (John 6:35) We dissected what Jesus meant by that, yesterday.

  • 26.01.29 “Jesus’ Promises” (John 6:35-39)
    Jan 28 2026

I wonder what metaphoric, descriptive words you have heard people use to describe YOU? Are you perhaps compared to a ‘bull in a China shop’ or ‘strong as an ox’ or ‘smooth as silk’? I left you yesterday in a crowd of people listening to Jesus as He was describing Himself with words His disciples had never heard Him use. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life!” (John 6:35) Jesus had compared Himself to the manna which God sent every morning from heaven to keep 1 million people alive in the desert as they wandered with Moses, remember? (Exodus 16)

  • 26.01.28 “Virtual Reality” (John 6:25-35)
    Jan 27 2026

I hear a word quite often these days that I don’t remember hearing years ago and it’s a word that’s really confusing to my 98-year-old father who tries to imagine it being used in his world growing up nearly a century ago. The word is “Virtual Reality”. (I suppose that’s actually two words.) Virtual Reality means what you are experiencing is not what it seems. Yesterday we watched as the disciples had a ‘virtual reality’ experience with Jesus when Jesus walked ON the water approaching their boat in the middle of a storm on Lake Galilee and they thought they were seeing a ghost! (Matt. 14:25,26)

  • 26.01.27 “Walking on Waves? (John 6:16-21; Matt. 14:22-33)
    Jan 26 2026

It’s interesting how things look and sound so different at night, isn’t it? I wonder what things frighten you in the dark of night, especially outdoors? I left you yesterday as Jesus was watching people go AWAY from Him, which didn’t happen all that often. Do you remember why? All four Gospels give us the story of Jesus feeding a huge crowd of people with one little boy’s lunch and we witnessed that yesterday.
