  • S4 E4: Journeying Through Trauma and Healing with Cassandra and Sage
    May 21 2024
Candace invites guests Cassandra Wind and her daughter, Sage, to explore their profound journey through trauma, healing, and growth in this touching episode. From shared experiences of abuse and violence to the powerful transformations facilitated through healing practices, this conversation is a testament to resilience and the unbreakable bond between mother and child.

Cassandra recounts her turbulent past, including physical and sexual abuse, and the strength it took to protect her siblings. She speaks on her path from victim to healer, sharing how martial arts, counseling, and alternative healing methods have played pivotal roles in her recovery. Sage adds another dimension, reflecting on how their understanding of gender and trauma has shaped their perspective on life and family dynamics.

Candace shares parallel experiences, emphasizing her commitment to creating a safe space for survivors. She praises Cassandra's impactful book, Ancient Teachings, New Traditions: A mother's quest to raise an empowered daughter, urging listeners to find hope and courage in its pages.

The episode not only uncovers the deep-rooted cultural taboos around discussing trauma but also highlights the vital importance of open communication, education, and empowerment.

    Episode Highlights:

16:54 - So, in my mind, I'm going, this is insane. So, this little thing happened and that sexual abuse is nothing. You do nothing. You have a talk and this is happening. So then he said, "Well, if you don't start crying, I will start beating the littlest one." So, I remember this. They all start screaming, "Please cry."

24:29 - I got this I heard this voice in my head say, don't talk about your story. It's going to be too upsetting for you. Ask them how they how they entice their victims. What methods did they use? And they thought that was much more empowering for me.

47:03 - One of the teachings that I really felt really strongly about that I came across through the Aborigines is they don't see children as anything but another spirit coming in that the community supports so they discover their gift. So, when they're born, they're taught to go explore and figure out what their gift is. And when they find their gift, they come to the leader, and then they tell them between 7 to 9 years usually in this one tribe called the real ones, and then they have a celebration, and they have food and dancing, and the child gets to announce what he's discovered as the gift that no one else in the tribe has to make the whole community better.

  • S4 E5: From Trauma to Triumph: Amy's Path Through Grief and Energy Healing
    May 21 2024

Amy Pierquet shares her healing and transformation journey with Candace Sanchez in this emotionally moving episode. She opens up about the loss of her parents, detailing the heart-wrenching experience of her mother’s battle with dementia during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the executor of her parents' estate, Amy shares practical advice on documenting assets to ease the process for loved ones.

Candace and Amy reflect on personal and professional challenges, revealing the lessons they've learned along the way. They address painful pasts, childhood traumas, and the importance of self-awareness and emotional intelligence. Amy discusses her discovery of energy healing and life coaching, and how these practices helped her uncover and heal from deep-seated traumas, including manipulative behavior from her brother.

The conversation underscores the value of continuous healing—described metaphorically as peeling layers of an onion—to fully address and overcome trauma. Amy emphasizes the lifelong process of understanding and healing from past experiences and shares her unique journey from feeling like a victim to empowering herself and others.

Candace also explores her reflections on parenting, family healing, and the critical importance of mental health support. Throughout the discussion, they highlight the transformative power of speaking one's truth, finding support, and cultivating a mindset geared toward growth and healing.

    Episode Highlights:

21:04 - Prior to me really looking into myself, I did go to therapy. It didn't help. And I'm not saying that therapy doesn't work for other people, but for me, they were asking me questions. And I think the thing is, is that I was I was stuck and I think I actually had stuck energy. Right? So, talking something through even when you have stuck energy is not going to do anything. That's what I came to realize. And so, I'm a big component and big believer in energy healing.

24:54 - A couple years ago, I would have never been able to share. Even if I became aware of it, I wouldn't have been able to share it. And now, I've healed so far that I can be like, "Okay. Yeah. This is not a great part of my history, but someone can learn from it." Someone can learn that you stop pointing the finger at someone else because there's 3 more pointing back at you.

30:11 - To be honest, I'm grateful for the entire journey. Only because if I wouldn't have experienced everything, if I wouldn't have experienced any kind of abuse, any kind of anything, right? The treatment, I wouldn't be where I'm at. And as hard as it was and as much as I know I cried through it, I felt horrible. I felt like a worthless individual through all of it. I wouldn't be where I am and I wouldn't be able to share my story and help people because I know I've helped people.

Follow their heartfelt conversation about resilience, advocacy, and the transformative act of turning pain into purpose.

    Episode Highlights:

16:46 - We would I have been choosing those same unhealthy patterns? Would I be more apt to recognize unhealthy signs, flags, patterns, and stuff like that? So I always question that. But I don't question it in a a spot of sadness or remorse, more of a what can I do to help change that so no one else has to view that?

26:28 - That's one thing that I'm really currently working on is how to find my space to say no, how to create my space for me, and how to say no more often. And it's really cool. Right? Like, it's really cool when some of that stuff happens, and it becomes more of the norm. And you're like, woah. This is becoming a pattern, but a good one.

40:05 - The concept for me is what drew me in the most, really, because we keep so much secret. Mhmm. And secrets is really what eats us up from the inside. Right? And so to be the title alone, right, like what you said in your bio, to share those stories and stuff to be to be open and they're uncomfortable. Some of them are uncomfortable and some of them are very uncomfortable.
