Country music veteran, singer songwriter extraordinaire, Clare Dunn joined Lauri & Sarah on this recent episode. • Forgotten People Series: The Alarming Rise of Illiteracy
    Jan 14 2026

In this episode we discuss a known yet glossed over the problem of illiteracy in this country. We went into a backward view of where we were concerning literacy as far back as the early 1800's to where the numbers line up today. We discussed all of the implications this bears on both someone unable to read/write as well as into the many societal ills it may very likely be affecting. We of course could not help getting pretty startled by the stats and how there seems to be nothing but a continual downward spiral; if not more excelerated by our current age of technology. It is a problem and our hearts truly feel for those trapped in such an outlier realm. We touched on what we, as individuals or as groups might consider for aiding in this hubris problem outside the system machine which has passed so many through. Tune in, share and chime in.

  • Shining A Light On The Darkness Of Grief
    Dec 25 2025

Grief. One of the things that connects us all. Never welcome, rarely seen coming but the depths grief strikes in us rarely passes anyone over. When it strikes it throws your center of gravity completely out of any sense of what was solid ground and while we all have or will experience grief it is deeply personal at the same time. We wanted to talk about grief purposefully around the Holidays when so many feel completely out of step with feeling festive. Our Dear friend, Maria Sloan joins us and shares her loss as well as her experience through being a Grief Share leader. This is a very raw episode with the hopes of touching those who may feel seen by listening.

    Dec 18 2025

Sarah and I discussed the topic of data centers dodgyness a few weeks ago. Since then, we have been privy to so many areas fighting these beheamoth industrial data dumping grounds which made us want to visit the topic again. Many are behind in learning just how many of these centers there are and the real fun fact is that they are ramping up the building of more at a rapid, we are in a race pace. Lynne Taylor was part of a local fight against one moving into her area in North Carolina and they pushed back enough to halt the project, but as she wisely said, "for now." The amount of farmland being rezoned for these is quite alarming and while the horse is out of the gate, they need to be fought! Tune in and learn more. Watch your local government my friends, the sufficating control is real.

  • Are We Streaming Away Too Much of Our Life's Stream?
    Dec 10 2025

Friends, Sarah and I got into a passionate discussion based around the word streaming. Streaming; a word one would have never seen coming as a reference to so much and used so often. Upon pondering the word we compared an analogy of our own personal lives being a stream and wondered how much attention that stream is getting vs all the other streaming options. Caution, this conversation had us coming face to face with self-discipline. Tune in and catch the wave.
