  • Authenticity
    Mar 13 2026

Authenticity is often misunderstood as simply “being yourself.”

But real authenticity requires more than self-expression; it requires self-awareness and alignment.

Authenticity is when your values, your words, and your actions are consistent with each other.

It means you don’t shift who you are depending on the room you enter. You may adjust your approach, but you don’t abandon your principles.

Authenticity is not about saying everything you think or rejecting structure. It’s about operating from a place of clarity about who you are and what you stand for.

Without that clarity, authenticity becomes performance.

In leadership, people can sense the difference.

    When authenticity is present:

    · Trust develops more quickly

    · Communication becomes more honest

    · People feel safer bringing forward ideas and concerns

But when authenticity is absent, people feel it just as quickly.

They notice when leaders say one thing but operate differently.

They notice when decisions contradict stated values.

Over time, credibility begins to erode.

Authenticity requires discipline because it asks leaders to stay aligned even when pressure builds.

    It means being willing to:

    · admit mistakes

    · listen to perspectives that challenge you

    · make decisions that reflect your values, not just convenience

Authenticity is not about perfection. It is about consistency and integrity over time.

People don’t trust leaders who claim to be flawless.

They trust leaders whose actions consistently reflect who they say they are.

Because in the end, authenticity is not proven by words.

    It is revealed through behavior.

  • Severing the Cord to Toxic Behaviors & Relationships with Emma Lyons
    Mar 12 2026

Emma Lyons, Trauma Matrix, writes about healing narcissistic power systems, family trauma, and nervous system reprogramming, guiding people to reclaim power from shame, clear subconscious patterns, and feel safe receiving without burnout.

Think of this less as a dramatic moment and more as a disciplined process of reclaiming your time, energy, and self-respect.

    My Notes:

    Awareness

    * Name the toxicity honestly. Stop minimizing or explaining away harmful patterns.

    * Identify the behavior pattern. Is it manipulation, criticism, emotional withdrawal, chaos, or control?

    * Recognize your participation. Toxic cycles usually persist because both sides play a role.

    Internal Shift

    * Decide that your peace is non-negotiable. This is the turning point.

    * Release the fantasy. Stop waiting for the person or situation to become what it has repeatedly proven it is not.

    * Stop seeking validation from the source of the wound.

    Boundaries

    * Define what you will no longer tolerate. Write it down if needed.

    * Communicate boundaries once, clearly and calmly. Over-explaining invites negotiation.

    * Expect pushback. Toxic dynamics resist change.

    Behavioral Changes

    * Reduce emotional access. Share less of your personal life.

    * Limit or eliminate contact when necessary. Distance creates clarity.

    * Stop rescuing, fixing, or over-accommodating. That fuels the cycle.

    Self-Realignment

    * Redirect energy toward healthy relationships. Invest where respect is mutual.

    * Replace old habits with intentional ones. Journaling, therapy, coaching, reflection.

    * Strengthen your self-trust. Each boundary you keep builds it.

    Emotional Detachment

    * Let go of the need for closure from them. Closure is often self-created.

    * Accept that disappointment may remain, but chaos doesn’t have to.

    * Forgive for your freedom, not their comfort.

    Maintenance

    * Watch for relapse patterns. Nostalgia can blur memory.

    * Protect your environment. People and habits influence behavior.

    * Celebrate the calm that follows distance.

    One blunt truth

Cutting the cord is not about punishing someone else.

It’s about refusing to participate in a pattern that diminishes you.

    And here’s the hard reality:

Sometimes the healthiest move isn’t fixing the relationship—it’s outgrowing it.

  • Carrie Loranger on Her Leadership Journey
    Mar 12 2026

Carrie Loranger is a Substack strategist, marketing expert, and entrepreneur known for helping creators and solopreneurs build “portfolio businesses” with multiple income streams. She is the founder of the 9-to-Thrive newsletter and community.

    Professional Background

Corporate Career: Carrie spent 18 years in professional roles across financial services, IT, and franchising. She previously served as the Head of Corporate Communications for a Fortune 500 company and as a Director of Marketing for a private firm, where she managed multi-million dollar campaigns.

The Pivot: In 2023, she transitioned from the corporate world to solopreneurship. She often describes her move as an escape from the “9-to-5” to build a business that “buys back your time.”

Marketing Expertise: She is a SCORE mentor and a strategic advisor, specializing in branding, SEO, CRM implementation, and lead generation. She is also a Keap Certified Partner and a Google Ads certified professional.

    Current Work: 9-to-Thrive

Carrie’s primary platform is her Substack, 9-to-Thrive, which focuses on turning one newsletter into a diverse revenue portfolio.

Rapid Growth: She famously grew her own newsletter from 11 to 5,800 subscribers in just six months—a case study she frequently uses to teach others.

Core Philosophy: She advocates for “leverage” over just “writing,” teaching creators how to layer subscriptions, digital products, coaching, and sponsorships.

    Educational Offerings:

    • Substack 360: A comprehensive system for building a scalable newsletter business.

    • Creator Cashflow Club: A membership tier providing group coaching and priority support.

    • The Creator Cashflow Show: A podcast where she shares strategies for turning knowledge into sustainable revenue.

    Key Themes & Philosophy

    • Freedom and Stability: Carrie focuses on building a business that provides both financial security and “peaceful” mornings, contrasting her current “sweatpants” lifestyle with her former boardroom career.

    • The “Lens” Approach: She famously argues against traditional “niching down,” instead suggesting that creators lead with a unique “lens” or point of view.

    • Anti-Perfectionism: A frequent theme in her teaching is that “done is better than perfect,” encouraging creators to launch digital products and offers without waiting for the perfect moment.

  • Never Give Up
    Mar 12 2026

“Never give up” is a phrase people say often, but real perseverance is more than determination.

    It is commitment.

Not giving up does not mean refusing to adapt. It does not mean pushing forward blindly or ignoring what is not working. Real perseverance requires reflection, adjustment, and discipline.

Never giving up means staying committed to the purpose, even when the path becomes difficult.

Every meaningful pursuit will encounter resistance.

    Progress will slow.

    Efforts may go unnoticed.

    Plans will sometimes fail.

    These moments test resolve.

Many people step back when the work becomes uncomfortable or uncertain. But growth rarely happens in comfort. It happens when people decide the purpose is still worth the effort.

    Persistence is rarely dramatic.

Most often, it looks like quiet consistency.

    Showing up again.

Learning from what did not work.

    Making necessary adjustments.

Continuing to move forward with intention.

Giving up may provide immediate relief, but it often leaves unfinished potential behind.

Meaningful work, whether in leadership, personal development, or relationships, requires endurance.

    The goal is not stubbornness.

    The goal is disciplined perseverance.

    Adjust your strategy when needed.

    Remain open to learning.

Strengthen your approach as you move forward.

Do not abandon the purpose that led you to the work.

Progress rarely belongs to those who avoid difficulty.

It belongs to those who remain committed long enough to grow through it.

The real question is not whether challenges will appear.

The real question is whether you will remain committed when they do.
