Conversation about departmental chances since he took over. How culture has changed, more ranks have been established and officer pay has increased. In 2021 the County opened a new jail and almost immediately it was at capacity. Since that time the jail population has reduced about 40% and there isn't talk about expansion. Of the 180+ inmates in the facility, only 18 are sentenced. The rest are awaiting trial. Really good conversation around how they have worked to improve the speed of the system. Other topics include navigating local politics, and the interaction of local town marshall offices and the reputation for “badge factories”.A great long form conversation that explores some parts of the criminal justice system that get forgotten.
