    Oct 3 2025
Episode 411 of Boss Hog of Liberty is out! This week Jeremiah Morrell and Zach Burcham are your host voices. Author John Oreovicz is the featured guest. Previously at ESPN, Racer, and Motorsport; his new book “Class of ‘99” is releasing this week. It chronicles one of the most memorable seasons in the history of American motorsports. From a tie championship between Dario Franchitti and Juan Montoya to the tragic loss of two drivers, including Greg Moore. We reflect on the diversity in motors, chassis, and tires. John wrote the “The Split” and this is the final great season of the Champ Car/CART era. Great conversation about the past, present, and future of motorsports. • 410: Local Media is at a Crossroads; Federal Overreach; Colts Hot Start
    Sep 25 2025
Episode 410 of Boss Hog of Liberty is out! This week Jeremiah Morrell, Bones Harcourt, and Zach Burcham are your host voices. Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air by ABC after pressure from the FCC. Federal government oversight and regulation of media is explored. Why do we have the local TV on “the airwaves” any more? Will companies like Disney fight back for their 1st amendment rights? Local news stations are continuing to merge. Local reporting and local media voices are dwindling and this is going to continue to happen as these mergers happen. Additional topics include new funding from the State Senate for McCormick's creek state park rebuild; pressure from the federal government to redistrict has State Senator Rod Bray catching heat for censoring a local political podcast. In sports, the Colts continue their hot start, the Pacers lost their matriarch, and the IndyCar silly season continues to provide endless stories. Our program is community supported on Patreon. • 409: Sheriff John Sproles; Polarizing; Jail Management; Navigating local politics
    Sep 18 2025
Episode 409 of Boss Hog of Liberty is out! This week Jeremiah Morrell, Betsy Mills, and Zach Burcham are your host voices. This is the return of Henry County Sheriff John Sproles. Conversation about departmental chances since he took over. How culture has changed, more ranks have been established and officer pay has increased. In 2021 the County opened a new jail and almost immediately it was at capacity. Since that time the jail population has reduced about 40% and there isn't talk about expansion. Of the 180+ inmates in the facility, only 18 are sentenced. The rest are awaiting trial. Really good conversation around how they have worked to improve the speed of the system. Other topics include navigating local politics, and the interaction of local town marshall offices and the reputation for “badge factories”.A great long form conversation that explores some parts of the criminal justice system that get forgotten.
