  • The Book Watchers Club - Holes
    Aug 22 2025

You've got to go and dig those holesssssssss

If you are 90s babies like us you may remember picking up Holes by Louis Sachar at the Scholastic Book Fair. If you are anything at all like Chelsea, you still own the original hardcover from said Book Fair. You may also remember a cutie little show called Even Stevens with an up and coming actor named Shia LaBeouf. Despite being nothing like the physical description of Stanley Yelnats, Shia was cast in the adaptation of Holes. Both the book and film are surprisingly dark...Let's talk about it while not getting bit by a Yellow Spotted Lizard.

They say "What Makes You Different, Makes You Dangerous". Well we say PISH POSH to that and invite you to embrace your differences in yet another post-apocalyptic series. Chelsea just CANNOT get enough.

Divergent is the story of a small but mighty girl who will somehow be the catalyst to save the world. Today we invite you to take a leap of faith with us as we discuss where the movie did really well and where it took some missteps. Maybe Chelsea will even have a hot take and actually like the movie??? One thing we can all agree on, Theo James with two first names is our favorite.

    Apr 11 2025

Chelsea wasn't quite ready to say goodby to teenage dystopia - Today we bring you Uglies. In 2005 Scott Westerfeld gave us a near perfect series and it took the film industry a whopping TWENTY YEARS to do anything about it.

Join us as we delve into a different terrible version of the USA and discuss where the movie succeeds and where it falls a little flat (spoiler alert its Chase Stokes for both depending on which of us you ask)
