“Roanoke Underground Rap is Alive and Well, and to prove it to the uninformed we assembled a veritable A-Team of lyrical talent from the valley and brought them down to Klean Studios, Virginia’s Mecca of Music. This episode is full to the brim with excellent music, as you have come to expect from the number one music podcast in Roanoke.

M.O.E. Reese, Rodney Ahmad, EWill, BadIMJ, Trey, the Stunna, DatBoyEd, and Just Some Random Dude. All together in one place… and it didn’t catch fire. But damn was it close.

We got music from all of these gentlemen including several beats from the mind of Ed, some of it is UNRELEASED HEAT (our specialty). On the couch we cooked up an elite 11 questions to ask each performer. The answers may shock you. Seriously.

"LET’S EAT”

After spending much of the first couple episodes celebrating country music, we felt it was time to get back to our roots. We asked a simple question on our IG : “which rapper should we have on?” You guys answered.

Dozens of submissions, a couple good ideas, some impossible or inappropriate. But there was one, from our good friend Just Some Random Dude, that we simply couldn’t avoid. It said: “Najee Koncept, are you dumb?”

Now we don’t have the highest opinion of ourselves but we certainly aren’t DUMB, so we quickly scheduled the ep to prove once and for all that we are tapped in with the underground.

We weren’t quite ready for how talented Najee was. Making the trip from Lynchburg down to Klean Studios he brought the sauce with him. JSRD if you’re reading this, good call brother. Damn Good Call. This ep has it all: unreleased heat and some of that excellent couch chat we all know and love, with a few takes so hot your phone will shut down like you left it out on a hot day. There is absolutely nothing like an away game to get the blood flowing! We packed all (and we mean all) our equipment into Max’s car and made the short and scenic journey from our home in Roanoke to downtown Staunton for an extra special episode because we here at B&G are all about new experiences.

The kind people at Heard and Friends invited us out to see Heard the Store after hours at their new location, and because they know we love good music they brought out a couple friends to perform for us too. Cutter and Jeffrey joined us on the couch to talk opening a vintage store, finding a new location, and developing a community involving all the things they love. It’s a killer episode with a change of scenery and some serious ball knowledge in the clothes game.

Great music, cool clothes, awesome people. B&G is about more than music, but we made sure to deliver in that department too. Throw on your best vintage fit and kick back for an all time classic B&G experience courtesy of Heard and Friends. Enjoy.

This season we’ve turned Klean Studios into the grand ol opry with the level of country talent gracing the biscuits and gravy stage. This week we kept things in the honky tonk lane by inviting the one and only Karlee Raye along with band mates Gabriel and Katherine down to the heart of music in Virginia to blow the gosh dern doors off.

Karlee’s style is bold; she loud and proud and she can sing with any of them. Her songs are celebrations of the country spirit and she blew the B&G team away with plenty of unreleased heat from her upcoming album. Be ready to belt these tracks in your car as you sing along.

On the couch we had a grand ol time telling big tales and talking taking music seriously. Our interviewers could barely contain the energy in the studio and you’ll love every second of it.

Season 4 started with a country bang and it continues with some home grown twang as we welcome the illustrious Jared Stout to the sanctum of solitude that is Klean Studios for a rocking episode of B&G.

Jared came solo, troubadour style, but his sound fills up the basement like few can. Just a man, a guitar, and a voice made right here in the Roanoke Valley.

The music is incredible, but Jared also shares some knowledge hard earned on his journey to growing his name both locally and all over the east coast (and now country with a NASCAR partnership) and any young artist could take a lot of this episode to use on their own journey.
